A wildly popular star of “Saturday Night Live” just shared a Harry Styles impression that stole the show in a new teaser for the “Aperture” singer’s latest hosting gig.
Marcello Hernandez channeled the former One Direction star in a new promo clip for the late-night comedy sketch series. The brief teaser showed the comedian having fun with the pop star’s style.
Harry Styles Shocked by Marcello Hernandez’s Impression in SNL Promo
Captioned with the words, “Harry Styles doesn’t need an understudy,” the clip began with a darkened SNL mainstage. The video begins with the message, “An international singing sensation returns to Studio 8H for one night only.”
Then, someone who appears to be Styles dances to his new song “American Girls,” in an outfit similar to one he wore on the 2026 Brit Awards. The clip comes to an abrupt stop when Styles and SNL’s longest-tenured cast member, Kenan Thompson, look at the stage where the “understudy” is standing.
The imposter is revealed to be Hernandez, having some fun impersonating the worldwide superstar.
Styles asks, “What are you doing, Marcello?” He responds, “Nothing Harry Styles.”
The singer asks the SNL star, “Are those my clothes?” Hernandez responds, “Yes, sorry. I thought you weren’t coming, so I thought I’d go on as your understudy.”
“Understudy?” Styles asks. “I’m 15 minutes late ’cause Kenan, and I went out for Pain au Chocolat. It’s a tradition when I host.”
Hernandez concluded, “I’m sorry, I just wanted to help.” Styles responded, “If you want to help, hold my Pain au Chocolat.”
The clip ends with Styles running onto the SNL mainstage, looking directly into the camera, and telling viewers, “See you Saturday.”
How Many Times Has Harry Styles Hosted SNL?
Harry Styles previously hosted SNL once before. This will mark his second time as host.
According to NBC, Harry Styles’ upcoming hosting appearance is his seventh time on the show.
Styles appeared on SNL as a member of the singing group One Direction a trio of times, in 2012, 2013 and 2014. In 2017, he appeared as a musical guest when Jimmy Fallon hosted, and was both the host and musical guest in 2019.
One week before his March 14 hosting gig, Styles appeared as himself during Ryan Gosling’s opening monologue. The March 7 episode featured the singer observing Gosling’s work, causing the “Project Hail Mary” star to lose track of himself in the process.
Harry Styles hosts and is the musical guest for “Saturday Night Live” Episode 15, Season 51. The series airs live on March 14, 2026, at 11:35 p.m. ET on NBC. The episode airs the next day on Peacock.
