Rita Wilson celebrated her 69th birthday on October 26, and her proud husband, Tom Hanks, shared a sweet post on Instagram to mark the occasion.

Hanks shared a photo on Instagram of Wilson wearing a black swimsuit. The image is cropped to show only the musician’s top half. You can see she has been swimming, and there is water in the background. She looks terrific as she smiles for the camera.
The “A Man Called Otto” actor wrote a sweet message in the caption. “This beautiful woman celebrates her birthday TODAY. She is beloved by her husband. Happy Birthday, @ritawilson!” he wrote. He disabled the comments on the picture, but it has been liked over 66,000 times in support from fans.
Tom Hanks & Rita Wilson’s Relationship
Wilson and Hanks have one of the most beautiful love stories, and their marriage has withstood the test of time. The pair have been married since 1988 and share two sons, Chester “Chet” Hanks and Truman Hanks. The couple first met on the set of the sitcom “Bosom Buddies” in 1981. At the time, they were just friends, and the actor was married to his first wife, Samantha Lewes.
The pair would reunite on the set of “Volunteers” in 1985, where they played love interests. “Rita and I just looked at each other and — kaboing — that was that,” Hanks told GQ, People reports. “I asked Rita if it was the real thing for her, and it just couldn’t be denied.”
In 1986, Wilson and Hanks made their relationship debut at the premiere of “Three Amigos,” People reports.
Over the years, the couple has given a glimpse into their almost 40-year marriage and what it means to each of them. In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Hanks was asked about the “magic” he shares with Wilson, and he gave an honest and beautiful reply.
“I view my wife as my lover, and we have a bond that goes beyond words like wife or girlfriend or mother,” he told Winfrey. “For example, I was able to construct a number of things in ‘Philadelphia’ because of my relationship with Rita. The way my character felt about his lover is the way I feel about mine. The same was true when I played Forrest Gump, who loved Jenny. Without my connection with Rita, I don’t know how I would’ve been able to connect with what Forrest was going through.”
