Singer and actress Rita Wilson has penned a heartfelt tribute to the late Diane Keaton. Keaton passed away on Saturday, October 11. She was 79.

After the news of Keaton’s passing was shared, celebrities and fans have reacted with an outpouring of love. Among the tributes was one from Wilson.
Wilson posted four photos of Keaton on Instagram. The first two were throwbacks to her younger years, while the last two were taken more recently. The final photo shows Keaton and Wilson laughing into the camera. They appear to have had a beautiful bond. Wilson reflected on this bond in her caption. “Diane Keaton has passed away. What is that term? A polite way of saying what we don’t want to acknowledge. The finality,” Wilson began her message.
“Every time I met Diane she was laughing, smiling, creating, observing, reflecting. Her work as an artist is simply outstanding. She could do it all. Just watch The Godfather films and then Annie Hall. I remember being mesmerized seeing her on Johnny Carson’s Tonight Show, singing in the most vulnerable way. But so pure and so honest. Her attention to detail and design was extraordinary. And her efforts to preserve architecturally significant houses and buildings was deeply appreciated.”

Keaton was a brilliant actress and left behind an incredible body of work. She also earned a prestigious Oscar for Best Actress in 1977 for her work in Woody Allen’s film, “Annie Hall.” Wilson acknowledged this by writing that Keaton was “a craftsman.”
Wilson also revealed how Keaton had created the song, “First Christmas,” alongside Carole Bayer Sager and Jonas Myrin. “Diane was determined to be a mom and did so, on her own, bringing Dexter and Duke into the world becoming their mother,” Wilson wrote about Keaton’s adopted children. “It’s so hard to lose someone who inspired us, for many reasons, and yet, so grateful her beauty and artistry will live on. We will miss you Diane. My prayers are with Diane’s loved ones and her children. May her memory be eternal.”
