Change is underway in the worlds of fashion and media. Vogue has officially appointed Chloe Malle as its new head of editorial content, according to Puck. The 39-year-old, daughter of actor Candice Bergen and filmmaker Louis Malle, steps into the role just months after reports that Anna Wintour would step down as editor-in-chief.
Multiple reports claim that Malle, who has previously held several editorial positions at the magazine, is expected to begin her new responsibilities ahead of New York Fashion Week, scheduled for Sept. 11–16.
Wintour informed Vogue staff of her decision in an editorial meeting, The Daily Front Row reported.
Wintour Steps Down After Nearly Four Decades

The 75-year-old, who transformed the publication into the world’s leading fashion authority, will remain as Condé Nast’s global chief content officer and Vogue’s global editorial director.

Malle’s Journey From Social Editor to Editor-in-Chief
As per Malle’s LinkedIn Profile, she first joined Vogue in 2011, landing a role as a social editor. She later became a podcast host and the editor of Vogue.com, steadily rising through the ranks of the fashion bible.
Reflecting on her very first interview at the magazine, Malle once admitted she wasn’t exactly dressed to impress.

She described wearing tights, boots that were “falling apart,” and a “very boring” dress with a striped blazer. Despite her misgivings, Malle ultimately earned her place at the publication and evolved, as she put it, “by osmosis” into a true fashion insider.
A New Era for Vogue
Last month, Malle was reportedly among the final candidates in a selection process overseen by Condé Nast CEO Roger Lynch and Wintour herself (As reported by The Independent). Ultimately, she emerged as the frontrunner and secured the top role.
For many in the industry, Malle’s appointment reflects both continuity and change: a nod to Vogue’s storied past while ushering in a new editorial vision. Her rise marks the start of a new era for one of fashion’s most influential magazines.
