Hollywood legend Barbara Eden is excitedly celebrating her 95th birthday this week.
The “I Dream of Jeannie” star was born on August 23, 1931, in Tucson, Arizona. As a child, her family suffered tremendously during the Great Depression. For entertainment, the family often sang and performed for one another. Barbara Eden went on to sing in church choirs and practiced with vocal coaches. She went on to study theater at City College of San Francisco, which eventually led to her television roles.
After landing many guest roles on popular shows, in the 1960s, Eden landed the starring role in “I Dream of Jeannie” in 1965.
This week, fans and loved ones are wishing the television icon a wonderful birthday celebration.

Like many celebrities, Barbara Eden maintains a social media presence. Her team gave her a special shout-out in honor of her birthday and requested fans shower the actress with love.

The Actress Dishes on What She Wants in Her Next Big Part
While many entertainers eventually go into retirement, Barbara Eden is still incredibly active and is always looking for her next project.
“I could be really mean,” the actress told Entertainment Weekly about what she’s looking for in a new role. “Bad Jeannie was bad, you know.”
In addition to playing Jeannie on “I Dream of Jeannie,” Eden also played the character’s evil identical twin sister, who was also named Jeannie.
However, Barbara Eden is excited about any role, as long as the writing is strong.
“If it’s well written, I’d probably do anything. If it’s well written,” she insisted.
