‘Con Air’ Co-Star Tells All About Nicolas Cage’s Kissing Skills Almost 30 Years After Movie’s Release

Simon West’s high-octane action thriller “Con Air” is one of the most memorable movies of the 1990s.

Starring Nicolas Cage, the blockbuster’s plot is as follows: “Former US Army Ranger, Cameron Poe, has just been paroled for manslaughter, but must stop a group of violent and deadly criminals from escaping the country after they seize control of the prison transport plane he is on” (per IMDb).

Cage plays the aforementioned Poe in the movie, working alongside John Cusack’s U.S. Marshal Vince Larkin to thwart the bad guys. The bad guys in question are played by the likes of John Malkovich, Ving Rhames, Danny Trejo, Dave Chappelle, and Steve Buscemi.

The film also features Monica Potter. She plays Poe’s loving wife Tricia Poe, who had waited patiently for his release from prison. Almost three decades after “Con Air” released (on June 6, 1997), Potter has been talking about Cage’s kissing skills.

Per Parade, Monica Potter, 54, was chatting on the Still Here Hollywood with Steve Kmetko podcast on the Monday, May 25 episode. She got onto the topic of kissing Nicolas Cage during the filming of “Con Air.”

She told the host that it was, “So fun, very good kisser. I can say that now that I am twice divorced.”

Potter was married to Tom Potter from 1990 until 1998, and Daniel Christopher Allison from 2005 until 2018.

The actress also told another story from “Con Air’s” set. She described how Cage broke character and ended up in fits of laughter when one of the actors playing a bad guy said something particularly funny.

Potter said, “We couldn’t get through the first take of where the bad guys walk up to the bar.”

She didn’t specify which actor was responsible for the funny line. However, with so much witty talent involved, it could have been one of many.

Potter Is Still Acting Today

While Monica Potter’s career hasn’t reached the same dizzy heights as Academy Award winner Nicolas Cage, she has kept busy since “Con Air” released, and is still appearing on screen today.

Per IMDb, her most recent acting role came this year, playing Talia Fedorov in a single season 27 episode of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.”

Her most recent movie roles came in 2024. In that year, she starred in the mystery thriller drama movie “The Girl in the Pool” alongside Freddie Prinze Jr. and appeared in the sci-fi rom-com “Running on Empty.”

Other notable movie roles since 1997 include 1998’s comedy-drama “Patch Adams,” 2001’s thriller “Along Came a Spider,” 2004’s horror classic “Saw,” and 2009’s revenge flick “The Last House on the Left.”

Additional television credits in that time include main roles in the legal comedy-drama series “Boston Legal,” drama series “Trust Me,” family comedy-drama series “Parenthood,” drama series “Wisdom of the Crowd,” and legal drama series “Goliath.”

It’d be great to see more of Monica Potter on our screens in the future. A reunion with Nicolas Cage would be particularly fun.

We wish her well with her ongoing career.
