Hugh Jackman‘s romance with Sutton Foster is continuing to heat up.
In fact, recent reports are indicating that the two actors are preparing to take the next step in their relationship.
He Believes She’s ‘The One’
Us Weekly reports that Jackman, 57, and Foster, 51, are preparing to get engaged.
“They have talked about getting engaged in the future,” a source told the outlet.
According to that source, Jackman is head over heels with the “Younger” star, and feels ready to increase their commitment to each other.
Jackman, the source said, “told his friends he thinks she is The One. They are that close.”
Away From the Spotlight
That insider explained that a big reason why their romance has been allowed to blossom is the couple’s decision to spend a quiet summer together in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Stepping away from their home base in New York City has not only allowed them to avoid public scrutiny, it’s also given them the opportunity to explore their relationship in a more “normal” environment than the Big Apple.
“It was a year so packed with films and events and they were exhausted and wanted to have weeks not scheduled around work, so they decided to get away,” the source said of their motivation to take a break from Manhattan.
“They wanted to get back to some normalcy in their lives,” the insider continued. “And that is the most normal place they could go.”
A ‘Circle of Friends’
As it happens, Foster has many friends in Wilmington, which has further assisted their aim of stepping out from the harsh glare of the spotlight.
Per the source, Sutton’s “circle of friends” in North Carolina have assisted the two to decompress while enjoying a “really low-key” summer.
In fact, they’re reportedly taking it easy, with the source adding that they’ve been “writing and reading scripts, spending time outdoors and dinners with friends. And doing things that are not stressful.”
More Comfortable in Public
GettyTheir relationship began with a hint of scandal. Foster and Jackman were co-starring in “The Music Man” on Broadway when attraction sparked. Around the same time as rumors of romance began circulating, Jackman separated from his wife of 27 years, Australian actress Deborra-Lee Furness, while Sutton split from her husband, Ted Griffin.
Understandably, the two have tried to maintain as low a profile as possible after taking their relationship public.
However, Us Weekly’s source explained that the time they’ve spent together away from the spotlight over the past few months has made them more confident in their relationship, noting that “publicly they are so much more comfortable being seen together.”
‘Basically Living Together’
Meanwhile, the source also said that when in New York, the two maintain their own individual residences — although that may not continue for much longer.
“They function as if they’re living together in New York even though they still have separate places,” the insider added. “They are basically living together.”
Blending Their Lives
GettyFurthermore, the source also stated that Foster and Jackman have taken the initial steps in merging their families; he shares two children with Furness, while Foster shares a young daughter with her ex-husband Griffin.
“They have already blended their lives,” the source revealed. “His children have met her daughter.”
A Fresh Start After a Fraught Ending

For Jackman, this new relationship represents a fresh start after what had reportedly been a messy split with his now ex-wife.
According to Us Weekly, multiple sources have claimed that the relationship began prior to Jackman’s separation from Furness.
Furness seemingly confirmed that timeline when she filed for divorce in May 2025. At the time, she issued a statement (via BBC News) in which she declared that her “compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal.”
