Sharon Stone shared a pivotal nugget of advice Sylvester Stallone once issued to her about the taxing price of fame in a recent interview with “AP News.”
The video interview was held on the red carpet premiere of her new action thriller movie, “Nobody 2,” on August 12.
Stone recalled having a conversation with Stallone about the mental and emotional cost that comes with amassing large levels of fame, something that is generally seen as luxurious and sought-after.
“I remember when Sly Stallone said to me, ‘From now on, when you see someone coming down the street like this,'” Stone makes a motion to dig in her pocket, “‘you’re not gonna know, are they reaching for the gun or the pen? And you have to watch it, honey.'”
This metaphor is particularly relevant in the wake of several recent acts of gun violence targeting public figures. In many ways, Stallone’s words echo louder than ever.
“I don’t think people generally understand that construct, and, luckily, a lot of people don’t have to,” Stone explained. “A lot of people think, ‘Oh, I really want that [fame].’ But they don’t want to have an occupation that, then, that’s a consequence of. Fame is a consequence of my occupation. But many people want fame just for that.”
Stallone & Stone’s Working Relationship
The exact timing of when Stone received this thought-provoking advice from Stallone has not been revealed.
The pair have known each other for over 30 years, having starred together in the 1994 action thriller “The Specialist,” a film about a hitman targeting mobsters, which shares a similar premise to “Nobody,” the first installment of the franchise Stone joined for the sequel.
After working on “The Specialist” together, it seems only right that Stone shares Stallone’s still-useful warning with the world as she steps out to celebrate the anticipated release of “Nobody 2.”
Stone’s Lengthy Career Following Stallone’s Advice
After many decades working in Hollywood, Stone has proven she still has range and gravitas by playing in an extensive mix of modern roles, even after suffering a stroke in 2001, which upended her acting career. After years of hard work and rehabilitation, she’s back wowing audiences.
Her role in “Nobody 2” is that of the film’s main antagonist, Ledina, the drug, weapon, and chemical-smuggling mastermind playing opposite Bob Odenkirk’s lovable and reluctantly out-of-retirement hitman.
She has also booked an unspecified role in the long-awaited upcoming third season of HBO’s “Euphoria,” which is expected to premiere in 2026.
