Jen Shah Bravely Speaks Out in 1st Interview Since Prison Release: ‘I Should Have Done Things Differently’

Jen Shah, who starred on Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City,” is breaking her silence and speaking out for the first time since being released from prison on December 10, 2025. The 52-year-old was sentenced to 6.5 years back in January 2023 for her involvement in a fraudulent telemarketing scheme, and was released more than 4 years early after serving time at FPC Bryan in Texas.

She said in a video clip of the interview, “I’ve been home for 90 days now. And I would be lying if I said I didn’t feel like may there was a stigma with it. I never thought I would be wearing an ankle monitor, that’s for sure.” She went on to despite seeing other celebrities embrace or “bedazzle” their tracking devices, she just looks at hers as “what I have to do right now.”

People reported after Shah’s December release that she is now subject to community confinement overseen by the BOP’s Phoenix Residential Reentry Management Office. That report explains Shah’s original sentence was reduced several times due to “good behavior, participation in prison programming and financial payments she has begun making to victims.” Shah was ordered to pay a total of $6.5 million in restitution.

Jen Shah Says ‘I Should Have Done Things Differently’

Jen Shah sat down with People for an exclusive first interview since leaving prison, and the outlet says she told them “I was wrong” and she’s now taking “full responsibility.”

The mom of two said in the interview, โ€œI made wrong decisions. I should have done things differently. I should have been more diligent. And I’m deeply remorseful and sorry for my actions and for my part.”

Jen Shah Says She’s ‘Finding Gratitude’

Shah said despite feeling stigma about her ankle monitor, she’s “finding gratitude in it because it means I’m home.” She went on to describe how her brush with the law has changed her outlook, saying, “I’m different now. I’m much more mindful. Mindful of everything I have. Mindful and grateful. I live and operate each day from a place of gratitude where I didn’t before, and a level of humility that I didn’t have before.”

She continued, “I feel like if I didn’t go through what I went through, I wouldn’t know what that felt like. And so I’ve reached a level of humility that I operate from each and every day which helps to be grateful.”

Shah also said she’s “done a lot of work” on herself over the last 3 years. “I manage my emotions a lot better. She said during the past 90 days she’s been home, her loved ones tell her, “You’re still the same fun Jen, but you’re different. There’s a different calmness about you.”
