“Real Housewives of Rhode Island” star Kelsey Swanson revealed her “very unorthodox” relationship status on the series premiere, proudly letting the world know she has not one, but two boyfriends.

BravoThe new Bravo series kicked off Thursday, April 2, introducing viewers to another crop of housewives. Among them was Swanson, a 31-year-old former Miss Rhode Island USA title holder who has, in her own words, an “unorthodox” love life.
In the premiere, Swanson introduced herself by saying she lives “a life of luxury and I’ve been lucky to be a lady of leisure for 10 years now.” She explained she lives in a 16,000-sq. foot home with four kitchens, 79 TVs, and a massive closet. While photos of her and her mystery boyfriend shown on screen had his face blurred out, Swanson was happy to talk about him and their nontraditional arrangement.
“My boyfriend’s family is probably one of the most prominent families in the state of Rhode Island and he has allowed me a life of not being able to work”, she explained. “I first met him when I was 19. I saw him on a boat, this guy’s tall, dark, handsome, we made out for two hours straight.”
Calling him a “good person” who gave her the confidence to enter beauty pageants, Swanson added that he’s usually “gone” for “a good five months of the year.” In that time, said Swanson, he sees other women.
“My relationship is very unorthodox. This man dates multiple people. For the first half of the year, my man is in Miami and, when he’s in Miami, he’s with somebody else,” she explained, saying she’s now at a “crossroads” in her life.
“I want more from myself. I want to be in a committed relationship with one person, but at his age, in his life, there’s not one thing he’s going to change,” she added. “He is who he is. Either I accept it, or I have to leave.”
RHORI’s Kelsey Has Two ‘Wonderful People’ In Her Life
Throughout the episode, the other women in the cast had conversations of their own about Swanson’s love life, with costar Rosie DiMare wondering whether Kelsey was in a polygamist relationship.
“I thought Kelsey was that,” said DiMare, in a conversation during which Swanson wasn’t present. “Her boyfriend has a girlfriend here and a girlfriend in Florida, no?”
DiMare later wondered whether Swanson had another partner of her own when costar Alicia Carmody asked if Swanson split her holidays between different people. Swanson, meanwhile, seemed irritated when she got wind of the conversations about her relationships, something which will clearly spill over into the next episodes.
A preview for the coming season was shown at the end of the first episode, in which Swanson seemingly confirmed her dual relationship status by saying, “The two people in my life are the most wonderful people ever.”
“Now you’re saying that you do have two boyfriends. Like, what?!” DiMare exclaimed in a confessional.
