Mary Cosby Releases Heartbreaking Statement Following Tragic Passing of Her Son Robert Jr.

Mary Cosby has spoken out following the tragic news that her son, Robert Jr., has passed away at the age of 23.

“Our beloved son Robert Jr. has been called home to the Lord,” the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star said in a statement to TMZ. “Though our hearts ache, we take comfort in God’s promise and in knowing he is finally at peace.

“We are grateful for your prayers and trust in the Lord to carry us through this time of sorrow.”

Robert Jr. died on Monday in Utah after emergency personnel responded to a call that night for a “full arrest/medical emergency” for a 23-year-old male.


Mary Cosby Shares Post On Instagram

Mary also shared the statement on her Instagram page, and lots of comments poured in.

“Devastated.😢 My heart goes out to you and your family.I pray he is now resting in peace. May God cover you during this incredibly difficult time. My prayers are with you. We love you, Mary.🙏🏽,” The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Cynthia Bailey wrote.

“♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️,” Mary’s castmate Lisa Barlow posted.

“I’m so saddened and sorry 😢 sending love and prayers,” Mary’s castmate Britani Bateman said.

“Sending love ❤️,” Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Crystal Kung Minkof commented.

In a post on Threads, Bravo host Andy Cohen shared a heartfelt note after learning the news.

“Devastatingly sad news out of SLC. This is every parent’s worst nightmare. My heart is broken for Mary, and I am sending all my love to her and Robert Sr,” Cohen said.


Mary Cosby Voiced Her Concerns For Robert Jr. At Season 6 Reunion

During the time the “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” Season 6 reunion was being filmed, Robert Jr. was being held in Salt Lake County Metro Jail, and Mary opened up about the struggles of seeing her son struggling.

“I’m not worried about him,” Mary said through tears, explaining that he is at least somewhere that he can’t use drugs.

“At some point, I have to step back so that he can learn and he can make his own decisions, and unfortunately, he’s learning the hard way. But I’m OK with it,” she continued. “It’s just, you don’t want to see your kid suffer, but I know it’s good. And I’d rather him be there than dead, you know?”

  1. Mary, my deepest sympathy for you and your family during this tragic loss of your son. I watched how you struggled with him and did everything you could for him. I hope your experience opens the eyes of millions of parents watching your show make sure mental health is a terrible disease. It’s overlooked too often. You gave him your all with your beautiful heart. Be good to yourself.
