Heartbreaking New Details Emerge in Tragic Passing of ‘The Challenge’ Star Tyler Duckworth

Fans of reality TV continue to mourn the loss of Tyler Duckworth, who passed away at age 44 last week.

Duckworth first appeared on “The Real World” before being cast in multiple seasons of MTV hit “The Challenge.”

He ultimately competed on four different seasons of “The Challenge” — “The Duel,” “The Gauntlet III,” “Cutthroat” and “Rivals” — winning the latter two. In addition, Duckworth appeared in two “Challenge” spinoffs, “All Stars 2” in 2021 and “All Stars 3” in 2022.

Now, new details are emerging about the circumstances leading up to his tragic passing.

Heartbreaking Details

Page Six has obtained a copy of the police report, with the outlet revealing some heartbreaking information.

Per that report from the Grand Forks Police Department, Duckworth’s body had been discovered “up against the door” in his bathroom when he was found on August 11.

“Duckworth’s neighbor had a difficult time reaching the deceased former reality star in his North Dakota apartment,” noted Page Six of the report’s contents.

Previously, Page Six reported that Duckworth’s body was discovered after his downstairs neighbors noticed that water was leaking through their ceiling, coming from his apartment.

Authorities were notified, and the neighbor found Duckworth “unresponsive” in the bathroom, with water pouring into an overflowing bathtub.

According to the report, that neighbor “tried to get the water shut off” but was “not able to confirm” if Duckworth was alive at that time.

Tribute From a Co-Star

Among the first to pay tribute to Duckworth was fellow “Challenge” veteran Tina Barta, who’d competed alongside him numerous times over the years.

“It’s hard to find the right words when someone who was part of such a meaningful chapter of your life is suddenly gone,” she wrote in the caption of a video of them together, which she shared via Instagram.

“We shared an experience that very few people will ever fully understand, and somewhere along the way, it became more than a show or an adventure. It became friendship,” she continued.

“It became history. It became family. How blessed am I to be surprised by your visit to Challengemania where I got to hug and kiss you one last time. We didn’t want to leave each other,” she added, concluding, “We never do. I love you.”

Johnny Bananas Honored His ‘Brother’

Also paying tribute was another “Challenge” alum, John Devenanzio, a.k.a. Johnny Bananas.

“You were more than a friend. More than a roommate. You were the brother I never had,” Devenanzio wrote in the caption to an Instagram post he shared. “Rest easy, Tyler. You’ll always be family ❤️.”

Devenanzio concluded by adding “147:3,” a reference to Psalm 147:3: “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”

Tyler Duckworth’s Mother Confirmed the Sad News

Duckworth’s mother, Joni Duckworth, confirmed the tragic news via social media, after The Sun was the first outlet to report on his passing.

“My son, Tyler, passed away earlier this week,” she wrote in a Facebook post (via People). “Cause of death has yet to be determined. I will post on Facebook about services as soon as his dad and I figure it out.”
