Former MTV reality star David “Puck” Rainey is stepping into the spotlight once again.

Rainey, 57, rose to national attention in 1994 as a cast member on “The Real World: San Francisco,” one of the most talked-about seasons of MTV’s long-running reality franchise. Now, more than three decades later, Rainey has launched a new career as a TikTok chef.

Since starting the TikTok account @PuckCooks last month, Rainey has posted dozens of short cooking videos filmed in his home kitchen, walking viewers through simple dishes and practical techniques. The MTV star’s content has quickly attracted attention, earning roughly 15,000 followers, with several videos reaching hundreds of thousands of views.

The renewed visibility has sparked nostalgia among longtime fans of “The Real World,” many of whom remember Rainey as one of the most polarizing figures of 1990s television.

Now, through TikTok, Rainey appears focused on building something new. His videos center on cooking, self-reliance and everyday routines, offering viewers a quieter and more grounded version of the man once known primarily for chaos on television.

Rainey has also been candid about how much his appearance has changed since his MTV days. Rainey wears his hair long, past his shoulders, and recently addressed his missing front teeth in one of his videos, explaining that they were “knocked out” during a recent physical altercation.

Despite the years away from the public eye, Rainey says he has remained in touch with some former castmates. In one TikTok video, he mentioned continued friendships with Rachel Campos and Sean Duffy, who appeared on ‘The Challenge’ and auditioned for “The Real World: Boston.”

“The Real World,” which premiered in 1992, helped define modern reality television by placing seven strangers in a shared house and documenting their daily lives. When Rainey joined the series in 1994, he was working as a bicycle messenger in San Francisco.

His tense on-screen relationship with fellow cast member Pedro Zamora became one of the most widely discussed storylines of the season and contributed to the show’s cultural impact during the early days of reality programming.

After leaving the series, Rainey made occasional television appearances, including small roles on “Road Rules: All Stars,” “Celebrity Deathmatch” and “MTV Cribs.”

Since his MTV days, Rainey has also built a family life away from television. He married a woman named Betty, whom he met at a farmers market. Their wedding was later featured on the MTV competition series “Battle of the Sexes.” Although the couple has since divorced, they share three children together.
