Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi shared a scary health update, urging women to be proactive about their health when it comes to cervical cancer.
Snooki Opened Up About a Scary Health Issue
“Jersey Shore: Family Vacation” star Snooki took to social media with a PSA to women: “Stay on top of your appointments.”
She opened up about a health scare she’s dealing with after not being great about following up with her doctor’s appointments.
“It’s not easy being a woman, especially when it comes to appointments and going through these uncomfortable appointments and situations,” she began in a video shared via TikTok on Thursday, January 21. “I’ve been having issues with getting abnormal results, precancerous cells in your cervix. I’ve been dealing with this for probably three or four years now, just making sure that there’s nothing that will escalate to cervical cancer.”
According to Snooki, she had to undergo a colposcopy, which she described as “so uncomfortable,” “terrifying,” and not “a great experience.”
“He found cancerous cells in the top of my cervix,” she continued, adding that she then had to undergo a cone biopsy.
The reality star explained that she pushed her appointments, knowing that she might not “get great results,” and to avoid the stress and pain that came along with the procedures.
While she has yet to undergo the cone biopsy, she added, “It’s scary, but we have to get it done because cervical cancer is nothing to joke about. And I obviously do not want to get this.”
She again encouraged her fans and followers to “stay on top of your appointments” and pap smears to prevent cervical cancer.
Snooki explained that if the cone biopsy results are unfavorable, a hysterectomy would be her next step.
