Reality TV Star Dons $19.5 Million Necklace on the Red Carpet

Let’s be real; red carpet fashion moments are everywhere, especially during awards season. But every once in a while, someone shows up and completely rewrites the assignment. That’s exactly what happened when Kevin O’Leary stepped onto the 2026 Actor Awards.

Sure, the “Shark Tank” star was dressed to impress in a sparkly black suit. The look was sharp. Polished. Very Mr. Wonderful vibes. But it seems like nobody could stop talking about what he wore around his neck; and can you blame them?

Because instead of a typical luxury watch or understated chain, O’Leary pulled up with a one-of-a-kind sports collectible turned high-end jewelry. Yep, you read that right.

The Accessory That Broke the Internet

Front and center was a signed Michael Jordan–Kobe Bryant basketball card; transformed into a necklace featuring a Tiffany chain and a diamond-encrusted frame. Yes. A trading card. As jewelry. On the red carpet.

It seems like O’Leary understood the assignment and then decided to raise the stakes just for fun. According to CNBC, O’Leary originally purchased the ultra-rare card in August 2025 alongside fellow investors Matt Allen and Paul Warshaw. The price tag? Nearly $13 million. Casual.

Explaining the investment mindset, O’Leary told the outlet:

“It’s no different than collectible watches, in some way. It’s so rare that the prices continue to appreciate, and they seem to defy recessions.”

And here’s the wild part: the piece has already skyrocketed in value. The card is now worth an eye-popping $19.2 million. We’re going to go ahead and say… that’s one way to accessorize.

Why This Moment Meant Something Bigger

Beyond the flex (because yes, it was absolutely a flex), O’Leary also shared a more sentimental reason for bringing the piece out on such a major night. L.A. Lakers player, Kobe Bryant, passed away in a helicopter crash alongside eight other people back in 2020 (per CNN).

According to Page Six, he explained:

“I’m looking at this card at the same way as if you could have bought a Picasso in 1962… I brought this back because I want to bring Kobe back to LA on such a big night in the city. It’s the first time we brought it out; I thought it would be great for the red carpet,” via PageSix.

Honestly? That context hits a little differently. What started as a jaw-dropping red carpet moment quickly turned into something more meaningful…a tribute wrapped in diamonds and nostalgia. And it seems like people online were definitely paying attention.

Kevin O’Leary Knows How to Make an Entrance

Between the bold suit and that headline-making necklace, Kevin O’Leary clearly understood the vibe of the night. It wasn’t just about showing up; it was about making the moment count. And mission accomplished.

Because whether you’re here for the fashion, the investment strategy, or the sports nostalgia, one thing is crystal clear: Mr. Wonderful didn’t just walk the carpet… he owned it.

Fans can catch the reality star as Milton Rockwell in “Marty Supreme” (2025), alongside Fran Drescher, Gwyneth Paltrow, Abel Ferrara, Timothée Chalamet, Tyler the Creator, and Odessa A’zion.
