Jacqueline MacInnes Woods On “Most Challenging” Storyline

In the EW interview, Wood and her co-star Lawrence Saint-Victor (Carter) reflected on their time on the show.

While she joked that “every scene” with Saint-Victor could be considered her favourite, she found it impossible to choose a favourite storyline. However, there is one in particular that stands out from her time on the show.

“The most challenging would be the opioid addiction,” she shared.

“As an actor, having to dive into those scenes, and execute them in the best way possible and make it all organic and real, with so much text โ€” that was challenging for me.”

During the traumatic storyline, which aired in 2020, Steffy was prescribed pain medication after being hit by a car. As Steffy continues to struggle with the pain, she becomes increasingly reliant on the opioids.

“I am so grateful to be able to tell this story because traditionallyย ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ย has a long list of social stories that we are known for telling,” Wood said in an interview with Michael Fairman TV.

“It is something that that we need to talk about because it is happening, and it is happening everywhere. Someone knows somebody โ€“ it is in our family, or our friends are dealing with this, and I didn’t realize how close to home it was for so many people.”

Speaking to EW, Wood also discussed why she enjoyed playing the character of Steffy.

“Steffy is so fun to play. She’s so fun,” she gushed.

“I mean, she’s just feisty. We’ve been able to travel the world, and Steffy’s gotten to do some pretty wild things, like paragliding. Very hands-on, active things, doing my own stunts. It’s pretty cool.”

She also fondly recalled some of Steffy’s memorable storylines.

“There have been moments where I’ve accidentally killed someone, you know, or tried to kill someone. I pushed Ivy (Ashleigh Brewer) into this electrical panel. God, I can’t even remember the crazy ones because there’s so many of them,” she said.

Saint-Victor revealed his character’s love story with Quinn (Rena Sofer) was one that “hits me in the feels.”

“That odd couple โ€” this almost evil character and an almost too-good-to-be-true, goodie-two-shoes guy โ€”they have amazing chemistry with each other, but they don’t judge each other for who they are. That was a great story.”
