Kelly Ripa Laughs Off Dog’s Surprise Bathroom Break on ‘Live With Kelly and Mark’

Kelly Ripa laughed off a canine guest’s surprise bathroom break on the set of “Live With Kelly and Mark.”

The animal lover didn’t think anything about the mishap when nature called on the set of her and husband Mark Consuelos’ daytime talk show. Instead of reprimanding the animal, she had a completely different reaction.

Kelly Ripa Thought Nothing of a Guest Answering Nature’s Call

On the April 2 episode of “Live With Kelly and Mark,” the former “All My Children” star thought nothing of one of her canine guests answering nature’s call on-camera.

Entertainment Weekly reported that Ripa and Consuelos were speaking with a pet expert, one of the episode’s featured guests. The guest was there to show viewers how to perform CPR on animals.

The couple was enjoying the animals surrounding them while the expert discussed why it was just as important to learn this life-saving technique for animals as it is for humans. The segment was part of the series “Raise the Woof Week.”

At that moment, one dog in particular couldn’t wait to take care of business, and went to the bathroom on-camera.

Instead of being upset, Ripa praised the pooch for doing what came naturally. She said, “Good dog,” and followed her remark by joking, “Please let him take a dump!”

This Isn’t The First Time a Dog Has Had an Accident on the ‘Live With Kelly and Mark’ set

Working with animals is unpredictable, as Kelly Ripa has learned throughout her years as the host of “Live.”

Months earlier, in September 2025, Ripa and Consuelos had a different pet expert on the daytime series. Dr. Draper brought many different dogs, who played on the “Live With Kelly and Mark” set.

Draper explained, “Socializing your dog makes them, you know, being around other dogs helps them be less fearful, less aggressive, less anxious.” Right after he shared his advice, one of his canine companions relieved itself on the set.

Behind the bench where Ripa and Consuelos sat, one of the dogs did their business, as the audience reacted with surprise. Ripa told the pooch, “Good dog,” adding, “Wow, that’s pungent.”

Draper’s response? “That dog has had some fancy dog food, I can tell you that right now. That’s really good stool.”

Upon the show’s return from a commercial break, Ripa joked, “We’re back with some more doggy dos — or, in that case, doo-doos — and don’ts. I love when they poop here, it’s my favorite.”

“Live With Kelly and Mark” airs weekdays in syndication.
