With The Young and the Restless’ Newmans being the most powerful family in Genoa City, fans tend to know all about its storied family tree. As such is the case, when certain Newmans have been MIA for a while, viewers notice.
Take, for example, Summer (last played by Allison Lanier). Mini-Phyllis has been off the canvas for months, supposedly working in Italy. While Victor (Eric Braeden) and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) recently decided to go on a vacation to Italy following the renewal of their vows and have agreed to see Summer while in the country, there’s no guarantee that the family reunion will occur on screen.
Besides Summer, Faith (last played by Reylynn Caster), Connor (Judah Mackey), Reed (last played by Tristan Lake Leabu), and the rest of Victoria’s (Amelia Heinle) children have also gone unseen. However, there is one Newman whose absence seems more egregious than theirs. (Although, to be fair, the fact that fans haven’t seen Claire [Hayley Erin] and Reed interact after all this time is nearly absurd.)
Where Is Christian?
GettyThe bio son of Adam (Mark Grossman) and adoptive son of Nick (Joshua Morrow), Christian hasn’t been spotted on the show for years, despite allegedly living in Genoa City. He’s occasionally mentioned in a roundabout way to provide a reason for Nick to exit a scene, but you never really see him. He’s not incorporated into storylines, so it almost makes sense that he’s not around. However, as a minor who hasn’t been shipped off to boarding school, you’d think he’d be more than a casual mention on the show.
Is Christian Newman about to Appear?
In The Young and the Restless episode airing on August 7, Nick goes “missing.” Victoria receives a call that Nick hasn’t returned to rehab, which sets off alarm bells. Nick eventually pops up to see Adam, and Nick has a request of his brother. He asks Adam to look out for Christian, who’s a teenager now with a car. A TEENAGER. Viewers have seen characters suffer from soap opera rapid aging syndrome (SORAS) before, but this seems a bit outlandish since he hasn’t been seen on TV since 2019/2020.
That has me thinking: is Christian about to be reintroduced on the show as a teen? Will he be a bit wild and a problem child for Nick? Heck, will his young journey into self-exploration lead him to discover Adam is his bio dad, and will Christian take on Adam’s troublesome younger personality? Such plot points could certainly wind up fracturing the renewed brotherly bond between Nick and Adam.
To be clear, as of publication, the powers that be at The Young and the Restless have not explicitly stated Christian is about to make a comeback. For now, this is all theory. But between Christian and Reed, it would be nice to see at least one of them back in Genoa City to cause some third-generation Newman drama.
Stay tuned for new episodes of The Young and the Restless on CBS and on Paramount+.
