“Survivor 51” contestant Thien An is gaining recognition for her strategic influence after helping orchestrate one of the season’s most surprising eliminations.
During Heavy Crown Network’s episode of “The Royal Tea,” former “Big Brother” contestants Tiffany Mitchell, Hannah Chaddha, Claire Rehfuss and Derek Frazier discussed the third episode of “Survivor 51.”
The hosts highlighted Thien An’s role in shifting the vote toward Patt Cannaday, praising her ability to influence the outcome despite receiving relatively little screen time.
Her success demonstrated how players can make meaningful moves without becoming the loudest personalities in their tribe.
Thien An Recognizes an Opportunity to Change the Vote
During the episode, the majority alliance appeared to have a comfortable position within the yellow tribe. However, players outside that group began discussing opportunities to change the balance of power.
Thien An recognized that targeting one of the five alliance members could weaken its influence.
The conversation eventually turned toward Patt, whose social abilities made her a potentially dangerous player if the tribes changed.
Rehfuss explained that Thien An appeared to recognize Patt’s ability to establish connections with unfamiliar contestants.
“She’s charming,” Rehfuss said while discussing Patt’s potential to build relationships following a tribe swap.
The hosts noted that other alliance members, including Brady and Devin, appeared too difficult to target at that moment.
Patt became a more realistic option, allowing Thien An and the other players to coordinate a successful vote.

‘The Royal Tea’ Hosts Say Thien An Deserves More Credit
One of the most interesting parts of the discussion centered on the difference between Thien An’s influence and how much attention she receives on the show.
Rehfuss pointed out that Brady appeared skeptical about Thien An’s ability to gather enough support to eliminate Patt.
However, the outcome demonstrated that he had underestimated her position.
“Clearly she does have sway and she does have power and she is making moves and she is playing,” Rehfuss said.
She also expressed disappointment that viewers had not seen more of Thien An’s gameplay.
The hosts agreed that her contributions deserved recognition, particularly because she successfully helped redirect the vote.
Rehfuss added that Thien An’s relationship with Kilby could become another important factor as the season continues.
Rather than relying on a dominant personality or an obvious leadership position, Thien An demonstrated the value of understanding the relationships around her.
Season 51’s Larger Tribes Create New Strategic Possibilities
The hosts also discussed how the season’s larger tribes have created opportunities for players to challenge established alliances earlier than expected.
Lewis and Carter emerged as important swing votes, giving the players outside the majority an opportunity to influence the elimination.
Rehfuss praised Lewis’s growing confidence, explaining that she initially questioned whether his social media following would translate into compelling gameplay.
However, his developing partnership with Carter changed her impression.
“He has been so fun to watch,” Rehfuss said.
Their willingness to consider different options helped create the conditions for Thien An’s plan to succeed.
Although Patt’s elimination surprised several hosts, they appreciated the unpredictable outcome and the strategic decisions that made it possible.
For Thien An, the episode represented an important accomplishment. Her ability to recognize a threat, influence conversations and help organize votes suggests she could become a significant player as “Survivor 51” progresses.
