Plenty of shocking revelations about the cast of “Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans” were exposed in Entertainment Weekly’s all-access first look at the upcoming milestone season.
That being said, amongst sneak peeks at the first Immunity challenge and Tribal Council ceremony of the anniversary installment, no admission was more jaw-dropping than when “Survivor: David vs. Goliath” fan favorite Christian Hubicki revealed that he secretly became a father just six months before returning to Fiji to film Season 50.

“Six weeks ago, we had a baby,” Hubicki told EW’s Dalton Ross. “His name is Michael.”
While Christian, a tenured robotics professor at Florida State University, is undoubtedly a busy man when not jetting off to Fiji to compete on “Survivor,” he’s also chronically online, posting consistently on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and ChatBCC – which makes it even more unbelievable that he and his partner, Emily, were able to keep the birth of their first child a secret from the entire “Survivor” fandom until this week.

In the days before the game, Christian was still debating whether or not to tell his competitors about baby Michael, but ultimately seemed to be saving the reveal for the perfect moment: Season 50’s Final Tribal Council ceremony
“He’s my secret weapon,” Hubicki told Ross. “These people don’t know I have a child. Everyone knows that Angelina has these two beautiful children she loves dearly and will do anything for. People think I’m a goofy robotics professor who can’t open bottles in front of Colby [Donaldson].”
‘Survivor 50’s Kyle Fraser is Also a Soon-to-Be First-Time Father
Christian isn’t the only “Survivor 50” castaway beginning their fatherhood journey, however as Season 48 winner Kyle Fraser announced earlier this week that he and his wife, Maggie, are expecting their first child in May 2026.
“We both can’t wait to see the other as a parent and have loved every moment from seeing the baby on the ultrasound to starting to feel kicks,” Fraser shared in an Instagram post featuring a carousel of photos of the couple holding their sonogram photos outside their Brooklyn home. “Our neighborhood in Brooklyn is very kid-friendly, so every time we step outside, we get to envision what our lives could look like. It’s the perfect type of uncertainty, and we’re ready for it.”
