Kelly Clarkson shared a priceless reaction to the barnyard crew living in “Scarpetta” star Simon Baker’s chicken coop.
“The Kelly Clarkson Show” host and Baker spoke about the barn on his property that houses a lot more than a flock of chickens. Clarkson couldn’t contain her shock, telling him his visitor wouldn’t be welcome on her property.
Kelly Clarkson Said ‘No’ When Learning Who’s Living in Simon Baker’s Barn
Simon Baker visited “The Kelly Clarkson Show” to talk about the first season of the Prime Video series “Scarpetta.” He stars alongside Nicole Kidman, Jamie Lee Curtis, Bobby Cannavale, and Ariana DeBose in the series based on Liz Sarnoff’s series of 29 novels.
Via Instagram, Clarkson shared a video of Baker’s barn. She spoke with delight about the chickens and their enclosure, and his dog looking on, when the camera panned upward, and she saw a python living in the rafters.
Clarkson commented, “We have a video of Simon saying good morning to his animals.” The talk show host said, “Keep going. Oh, cute chickens.”
Then she exclaimed, “That’s when I’m out,” when she saw the python curled up in the coop’s rafters. She told Baker, “I was like ‘I could live on your farm’ and then I was like, ‘absolutely not.’ That’s a python?”
The actor responded, “Yeah, there’s plenty of them. That’s a diamond python.”
Clarkson sat with her mouth open as Baker declared, “Look, I’m not crazy about snakes. But I know that one’s often there.”
He continued, “So whenever I go into the chicken coop, I always look up to see. I’ve got some sheds and stuff. And I always look up when I enter the shed, cause they’ll often be up in the rafters, and sometimes there’s a couple of them.” “The Voice” coach said to Baker of his slithering visitor, “That’s a hard no!”
He responded, “Yeah, but they like rats. They like the bush rats.”
Kelly Clarkson Expressed Concern For Simon Baker’s Farm Animals
When Kelly Clarkson shared her concerns with Simon Baker about whether the python “eats the chickens,” he responded, “No. The chickens eat the feed. The bush rats come to try and eat the chicken feed, and the python comes, and my dog just watches all of it.”
The talk show host concluded, “That’s like where I am. Everybody tries to kill coyotes, and I’m like, ‘Don’t do that. They are a part of the whole cycle.’ Let’s find a way to work around that.'” However, she added, “I would not be able to be around a python.”
“I don’t know how you close your eyes and sleep,” Clarkson added. He responded that the animal was, “kind of friendly.”
Simon Baker plays Benton Wesley, the husband of Kay Scarpetta, played by Nicole Kidman, in the Prime Video series. There are eight episodes in Season 1, which debuted on March 11, 2026. Deadline reported that Season 2 was greenlit in September 2024.
