‘The Voice’: Kelly Clarkson Admits She Has Over Two Dozen Tattoos

“The Voice” coach Kelly Clarkson has never been shy about sharing information about her life, and that openness extends to the stories behind her over two dozen tattoos.

In a story shared by NBC, Clarkson revealed the meaning behind the astonishing number of tattoos she has covering her body. “The Voice: Battle of Champions” coach admitted she’s “obsessed” with getting body ink and has 27 thus far.

What Do Kelly Clarkson’s Tattoo’s Mean?

Clarkson opened up about the meaning behind her tattoos in a 2022 “Access Hollywood” interview alongside “Voice” coach John Legend. The conversation began with Clarkson being asked if she’d ever ink one of her song lyrics on her body, quickly shifting into the stories behind some of her most memorable tattoos.

“There’s a lot of meaning behind it,” she began. “I didn’t get the lyric, but right on my ribcage I have, in Morse code, ‘what doesn’t kill you.’ It is the song, but there’s other stuff behind it.”

Clarkson elaborated further about this particular tattoo in an interview for “The Elvis Duran Show.”

“Do you want to hear a funny story? I have ‘what doesn’t kill you’ in Morse code or whatever. And then I got pregnant, and now it’s like 3D,” she laughed.

“It didn’t kill me, but pregnancy almost did. No one warns you about that in the tattoo shop,” she concluded. “Texas is now also 3D,” Clarkson laughed, pointing to a spot on her lower ribcage where that particular tattoo is located.

Where are Kelly Clarkson’s Tattoos Located?

To “Access Hollywood,” the entertainer continued that a lot of her tattoos are “reminders” and clarified that they are not all “struggles.”

She explained, “I am such a forgiving human, forgiving and loyal to a fault. I forget what happened. And then you just keep allowing the same thing to repeat. So, a lot of mine are like, ‘Don’t do it.’”

“Like there’s one on my middle finger. I like to believe in the good side of humanity, but it doesn’t always work out.”

According to NBC, Clarkson’s tattoos are located in various spots all over her body. They are located on her ribcage, on both wrists, and on her middle finger, to name a few.

However, despite the “reminders” of the good and bad times in her life that are permanently situated upon her body, Clarkson chooses to retain a positivity that spills into both her personal and professional lives. She told “The Elvis Duran Show” that she has been told by friends many times that her positive outlook on life is refreshing.

“My friends tell me that I do that a lot,” she said in the 2024 interview. “I am very observant, and I am also ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), always looking around and observing. I like making people feel good.”

Season 29 of “The Voice” airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET on NBC. New episodes air the next day on Peacock.
