Great American Family star Candace Cameron Bure is remembering a tough day on the set of “Full House” as she marked a milestone occasion for the sitcom. The Hallmark alum used Instagram to reflect on the series finale of “Full House,” which aired on May 23, 1993.
Candace Cameron Bure Remembers ‘Full House’ Series Finale
In her social media post, Bure shared a carousel of photos to mark the “Full House” series finale. The actress mixed in throwback photos with a couple of shots of her sporting new merch inspired by the show.
Bure kicked off her share dedicated to the show that launched her career with a cast photo from the end of the series. The picture included Bure, the late great Bob Saget, John Stamos, Dave Coulier, Jodie Sweetin, Lori Loughlin, Andrea Barber, Mary-Kate Olsen, Ashley Olsen, Blake Tuomy-Wilhoit, and Dylan Tuomy-Wilhoit.
There were two cast photos from the show’s early days. One featured only the original cast members, and another featured the original cast, Loughlin, Barber, and Scott Weinger. A video from the final day of filming “Full House” was also featured in Bure’s post.
Bure sported some new merch she’s selling, including a picture of her wearing a shirt that said “Oh My Lanta,” which, as “Full House” fans know, was her character DJ’s catchphrase on the show.
“May 23, 1995… the final episode of #FullHouse aired. 🥹 31 years later, I still remember it like it was yesterday. It was an incredibly emotional day, filled with tears, giant bear hugs, and SO much gratitude. And because some memories are just too good not to wear… I made a few special pieces for all my fellow Tanner family fans. ❤️ Link in bio..” read the caption on her post.
“Full House” ran for eight seasons on ABC, premiering on September 22, 1987, and ending on May 23, 1995. The sitcom was considered an epic part of ABC’s infamous TGIF programming block, but it only stayed there for four seasons before finishing its run on Tuesday nights.
Over 20 years after the “Full House” series finale, Bure, Sweetin, Barber, and Weinger headlined the reboot “Fuller House” on Netflix. The reboot focused on a newly widowed DJ and her three sons, with Stephanie and Kimmy moving in to help DJ. Saget, Stamos, Loughlin, and Coulier all made guest appearances throughout the show’s five-season run.
‘Full House’ Stars Reunite To Celebrate Bob Saget
May 17 would have been Saget’s 70th birthday. The beloved actor died in 2022 at the age of 65 from blunt head trauma he sustained from a fall.
Bure revealed that she was one of many who gathered with Saget’s wife, Kelly Rizzo, to celebrate him. In a social media share, Bure posed with Rizzo and Loughin to commemorate the occasion. She also included photos of Rizzo with a cake for Saget.
“Celebrated Bob’s 70th birthday last night. We miss you every day. You’re still making us laugh 🥹❤️. Go tell someone you love them and give them a big hug today 🤗,” Bure shared as her caption.
Rizzo showed up in the comments to express her gratitude, “we could all be together last night,” and that she felt Saget’s presence in the room that night.
