Dennis Quaid is the father of twins in real life, not just in “The Parent Trap.” Now, the children are setting off on their own and explore everything the world has to offer them.
In a new interview, Quaid admitted that sending his twins to college has been a strange experience and he worries about their well-being. But at the end of the day, he trusts them to make the right choices.
Dennis Quaid’s Youngest Children Are Entering Adulthood
As the school year begins, many celebrities are bidding emotional goodbyes to their children. Dennis Quaid’s youngest kids, twins Thomas and Zoe, are starting their freshman year of college. The actor recently discussed the emotional chapter.
“My twins, they just started college. Dropped them off last week, in fact,” the 72-year-old shared with PEOPLE.

“They’re out there on their own now,” he continues. “They’re just starting out and you think, how are they gonna make their way? And then they do.”
“The Parent Trap” star has an older son, “The Boys” star Jack Quaid, 34. He welcomed Jack with his second wife, actress Megan Ryan, in 1992. He went on to marry his “The Boys” co-star, Claudia Doumit, this year.
PEOPLE notes that both Thomas and Zoe plan to study business at school. Zoe is attending the University of Virginia, while Thomas is at the University of Colorado Boulder.

“It’s the advice I always give myself: find something that you love to do, and then figure out a way to get paid for it. And you’ll never work a day in your life,” he laughed.

As Dennis Quaid watches his youngest children enter adulthood, he’s begun thinking about his legacy.
“Legacy is really kind of the final thing,” the 72-year-old told PEOPLE. “I think we all kind of want to be immortal or be remembered or have something of us here, leaving something for generations to come. And we can do that while we’re alive, too, by the way.”
The actor continues to act and play an active role in his children’s lives. Without a doubt, he will leave quite a significant legacy behind.
“Getting older is just a lot more relaxed, to tell you the truth,” Quaid continued. “You’ve been around the sun a couple of times, and you start to notice patterns of things and how God works things out and how things that seem huge in the moment settle down.”
In the meantime, Dennis Quaid has plenty to look forward to.
“So I’m just enjoying life,” the actor cheerfully added. “This is, like, maybe the best part of my life.”
