HGTV’s Jenny Marrs Shares Emotional Update After Heartbreaking Family Loss

Jenny Marrs and her family continue to navigate grief, feeling the loss of loved ones amid their everyday activities. The HGTV star offered a powerful reminder about reaching out to family and friends as she shared how much she misses her mother-in-law.

Jenny Marrs Shares an Important Reminder: ‘Call Your People’

On November 17, Marrs took to Instagram to share that she was missing her mother-in-law. The “Fixer to Fabulous” star explained her instinct to call her husband Dave’s mother, but she recently passed away.

While the moment was a sad reminder of their loss, it also provided perspective about the importance of reaching out to loved ones.

“This morning, I was sorting the calendar for the week and picked up my phone to call Dave’s mom,” Marrs explained in the caption. “The boys have games tonight and Sylvie plays tomorrow.”

Marrs continued, “She never missed a game. She was always cheering from the stands and high-fiving the other families and saying a little too loudly that ‘those Marrs boys are the best on the team’ and ‘Sylvie is the best player out there.'”

“Dave and I would quietly apologize to the other player’s parents sitting next to us as we all chuckled at her zeal and love for her grandkids,” the HGTV star explained.

She noted, “Since I can’t call her, instead, I found myself listening to a bunch of my saved voicemails from her with tears streaming. What I wouldn’t give to call her up and hear her ‘couple of questions’ …”

Marrs shared, “Call your people. If you haven’t spoken to your mom or your grandma or your aunt or your best friend five states away because you’ve been too busy and texts are quicker and easier … pick up the phone this morning and make the call. It matters.”

Her husband Dave commented, “I love this Babe. I’d give anything to talk to her again.”

Fans Share Messages of Love & Support

Marrs’ fans flooded the comments section to share how much they related to her post.

“Awwww I have voicemails from my mom. I do the same,” one fan wrote.

Another person shared, “So many times I’ve wished I could call my mom. Her voice still stays strong in my head but it’s not the same.”

“It’s a hard adjustment 😢 But, I firmly believe she’s watching over you. All of you,” another fan commented.

“I love your heart Jenny. Those texts and voicemails from my Mother keep me connected to my Mom and bring me such comfort and love,” one fan shared. “The best way to keep them with us and our children are to play the voicemails and videos.”

One fan commented, “This is so true. I understand your grief and I’m so sorry for your loss. I had a wonderful relationship with my MIL and my kids had sweet memories of their Mimi. We all miss her!”
