LeAnn Rimes shared a sad update over the Thanksgiving weekend, announcing the passing of someone dear to her heart. However, she also celebrated the life of an incredible woman who left a lasting impact on her.
LeAnn Rimes Celebrates Her Godmother
Rimes posted several photos on her Instagram Stories on Sunday, November 30, highlighting the bond she shared with her Godmother, Margaret, after whom she is named. What many fans may not know is that Rimes’ full name is Margaret LeAnn Rimes.
“My beautiful Godmother Margaret, whom I am named after, passed away this morning at the age of 96. I found out on a plane, and right after I found out, I signed onto the airplane’s Wifi and received this message,” she wrote on Instagram. The photo is a screenshot with the words, “Rise & Shine, Margaret.”
“I’ve never seen the ‘rise and shine, Margaret,’ message,” Rimes shared. “My friend Hannah’s message just said, ‘Welcome, Hannah.’ So rise and shine, Margaret…I know you have and you are.”
Remembering a Loved One
Rimes shared more of her thoughts in a second story. This one showed a photo of Margaret holding Rimes as a child. She reflected on the sweet memory and celebrated the woman her Godmother was. “The strongest woman I’ve ever known. Thank God, she taught me her ways,” she wrote on the slide.
The third story also celebrated Margaret. This one was taken from Rimes’ wedding to Eddie Cibrian in 2011. In the background of the image, you can see Margaret wearing a green dress and smiling. “She was so happy at our wedding because she knew how happy I was,” Rimes wrote.
The next slide is a beautiful photo that captures a sweet moment between the “Can’t Fight the Moonlight” singer and Margaret. They are embracing, and the picture highlights the love between them. “What an epic life. I could not have been more blessed in this life than to have been loved by this woman,” Rimes wrote.
Fans of Rimes will know this is not the first time she has celebrated Margaret and what she means to her. On May 12, 2024, in honor of Mother’s Day, Rimes posted a photo on Instagram that included Margaret. “Happy mother’s day to the women who raised me @beerosemiller and my godmother, margaret. happy mother’s day to all the women who mother children and mother this world,” she wrote. “Sending love to you all! #mothersday #happymothersday #mothersday2024.”
