Prince Jackson Stood Alongside Jackson Family at ‘Michael’ Premiere
GettyPrince Jackson attended the film premiere of “Michael” at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, California. Michael Jackson’s oldest son posed with Jackie Jackson, 74, Jermaine Jackson, 71, and LaToya Jackson, 69 on the red carpet ahead of the film’s screening.
However, Prince’s siblings, Paris Jackson and Prince Jackson, were not in attendance. Paris has distanced herself from the project while Bigi Jackson attended the Berlin premiere of the film.
Jackson’s nephew Jaafar Jackson steps into the spotlight as the King of Pop, taking on the role of Michael Jackson. He is the son of Jermaine Jackson, one of the original members of the legendary group The Jackson 5, adding a powerful family legacy to the highly anticipated biopic, of which Prince is an executive producer.
Prince told Entertainment Tonight the film was a “cathartic experience for me to do the research and look it as objectively as possible. I ended up learning so much about what the family went through.”
He added, “What their lives were like. We are here now because of them.”
Prince Jackson’s Sister Paris Feels Differently About ‘Michael’ Biopic
Paris Jackson shared her feelings about the film via her Instagram stories. She felt her input was not considered after reading one of the script’s first drafts, as reported by Vanity Fair.
She said via social media, “I read one of the first drafts of the script and gave my notes about what was dishonest [and] didn’t sit right with me and when they didn’t address it I moved on with my life,” she wrote. “Not my monkeys, not my circus. God bless and Godspeed.”
“I wasn’t involved at all, aside from giving feedback on the first draft and then getting the feedback that [production] was not actually going to address your notes at all. So I just butted out and left it alone because it’s not my project.”
Paris concluded, “A big reason why I haven’t said anything up until this point is because I know a lot of you guys are gonna be happy with it. A big section of the film panders to a very specific section of my dad’s fandom that still lives in the fantasy, and they’re gonna be happy with it.”
“Michael” hits theaters beginning April 24.
