Britney Spears just announced she will never perform again – at least not in the United States. The pop music legend took to her Instagram on January 9, 2026 to declare she is putting a moratorium on doing shows in her home country, but hopes to perform elsewhere, and wants her son to join her.
She captioned a throwback photo of herself sitting at a piano during a show, “I will never perform in the U.S. again because of extremely sensitive reasons but I hope to be sitting on a stool with a red rose in my hair, in a bun, performing with my son in the U.K. and Australia very soon.”
The “Touch of My Hand” singer then called her son “a huge star” and said she’s “so humbled to be in his presence.” Britney did not specify which of her two sons she was talking about, but the younger one, Jayden, has previously appeared on her Instagram page playing the piano.
Britney Spears Previously Praised Her Son Jayden’s Musical Talents
On New Year’s Eve 2024, the pop princess praised her son Jayden Federline‘s musical abilities in the caption of a set of moody outdoor portraits she shared of him. The proud mom called Jayden “mine forever” before saying she and the 19-year-old are “like twins.” She went on to say she hadn’t seen him in “two-and-half years or maybe three,” and said she was in shock at how Jayden seemed “older and smarter than me” when he returned for a visit. She finished the sweet tribute by writing, “He’s a man and I cry everyday of my life because of the miracle and genius he is! When he plays the whole earth shakes!”
Britney Spears Explained Her Unique Instagram Dances
Britney has become known for the bold and free dance videos she enjoys sharing on social media, and in her January 9 post, she explained why she does it. She wrote, “Interestingly enough, I dance on IG to heal thing in my body that people have no idea about.”
She added, “Yup and it’s embarrassing sometimes, but I walked through the fire to save my life.”
Spears previously revealed in a statement she read to the court while trying to terminate her 13-year-long conservatorship that she was forced into a rehab facility against her will and placed on an extremely high dose of lithium that made her so incapacitated she was unable to do simple tasks like phone her parents after backing out of her “Domination” Las Vegas residency which was set to begin in January 2019.
She later wrote in her 2023 memoir “The Woman In Me” that she feared the extreme amounts of medication would be fatal. She explained, “This will sound crazy, but I’ll say it again because it’s the truth: I thought they were going to try to kill me.”

Wont hurt my feelings if she never sings here again. Who cares.
