Holland Taylor is celebrating her birthday today, Wednesday, January 14, 2026. The actress and partner of fellow star Sarah Paulson is turning 83 years old.
When it comes to her life in show business, the star “is known for her imperious composure,” according to HuffPost. “Over her five-decade career, she has been cast almost exclusively in roles that demand significant degrees of sass and brass, which she somehow delivers without showboating.”
HuffPost also noted that “[a]ny tally of Taylor’s highlights would feel incomplete, but here goes: ‘Bosom Buddies,’ ‘Romancing the Stone,’ ‘To Die For,’ ‘The Practice,’ ‘Legally Blonde,’ ‘The L Word,’ ‘Two and a Half Men’ and a number of acclaimed stage parts, including a play she wrote about former Texas Gov. Ann Richards.”
Of course, before she was famous, she was just a little one in her mother’s arms.
Holland Shared a Photo of Herself as a Baby
On May 11, 2025, the star took to Instagram to share a black-and-white photo of herself as an infant being held by her mother. The two both smile at the camera as Taylor’s mom radiates beauty and the little one shows off how adorable she is.
“Mother,” the actress simply wrote in the caption of her post.
In the comments of the post, one person wrote, “Oh, baby Holland! And your mama— so beauteous!”
“[G]orgeous! what a beautiful baby! ❤️❤️,” another person added.
A third social media follower wrote, “OMG, THE BEAUTY!”
The Star Also Shared a Pic of Her Lookalike Mother
Taylor also used Instagram on May 9, 2021, to post a photo of her mother.
In the caption, she wrote, “I posted this about an hour ago, with a long text… I had started to write something very short— but it led me hither and yon, and before I knew it, I’d been pecking away on the phone well over an hour.”
She continued, “Finally, I proofed it, very laborious for me, I am so clumsy writing that way— and I hit share, and put the phone down and had to eat, I was starving! So I came back to check— and … there’s no text! I can’t think what to make of it, and I feel sad and somehow chastised.”
She finished her message by writing, “Well, my mother was kind of private … so there’s that. But.”
Taylor’s followers were struck by how much the star resembled her mother.
“She is beautiful and you look just like her and you are beautiful…so there’s that❤️,” one follower noted.
Someone else wrote, “Very [beautiful], nice photo. You are very similar and charming 🔥🔥”
“Wow I can see where you got your looks from. your mother was beautiful,” came from yet another fan.
Yet another person wrote, “What a resemblance! So your mother is also visibly living on in you. I can so much understand what you may feel. My mother died far too young when I was still a teenager. Now, more than 4 decades later, the bond between us is spiritually still there somehow. Sometimes, when I unexpectedly step in front of a mirror (in an elevator, f.e.), it sort of hits me — perhaps you experience the same sometimes… — to see her face through mine. But positively, for it shows that, through our thoughts, our loved ones are always by our side.”
