Kelly Kruger and Darin Brooks announced that after nearly 10 years of marriage, they have decided to get a divorce.
In a joint statement shared to TV Insider, the couple confirmed their split, saying, “We’re committed to coparenting our two children and remaining friends.”
Kruger and Brooks began dating in 2010 while working together on the film “Blue Mountain State.” Both actors have had an extensive entertainment career, with much of their time spent on soap opera sets.
Kelly Kruger Breaks Silence About Split From Darin Brooks
Following news of their breakup, Kruger shared a statement on her Instagram. “This is obviously not fun news to share but we have shared so many wonderful years together, and we’re truly grateful for the support, love, and joy you all have shown us along the way,” she wrote.
“While we’ve made the difficult decision to part ways as a couple, we remain deeply respectful of each other and united in our commitment to our beautiful family,” Kruger continued. “Our focus is on raising our girls with love, laughter, and stability, and we look forward to this next chapter as friends and co-parents. Thank you for being such a meaningful part of our journey – your kindness and support means the world to us.”
In a 2016 interview with Soaps.com, Brooks dished on how he managed to seal the deal with Kruger and become romantic. “We became best friends, and for a good three to six months she was telling me who to date,” Brooks told the outlet. “We were spending so much time together, and one day I just grabbed her head, and I kissed her.”
Kruger explained in the same interview that she and Brooks were nervous to take their friendship to the next level, not wanting to lose each other if it didn’t end up working.
“Then we went through the whole, ‘I don’t want to lose my best friend if this doesn’t work out.’ Because he was legitimately my best friend. It was a true friendship. So it was kind of scary in the beginning,” said “The Young and the Restless” star.
Kelly Kruger Vulnerably Opens Up About ‘Trust Issues’
In a previous interview with Soap Opera Digest, Kruger admitted to having a difficult time with trusting others before being able to buckle down with Brooks.
“To be honest with you, I had major trust issues when I first met Darin,” she vulnerably shared. “I didn’t trust him. I was like, ‘I don’t believe this person can be this good to me. When is the other shoe going to drop?’ and I’d test and test and test.”
Kruger went on to explain that after seeing the love that Brooks’ parents have for each other, she was able to realize that he could be the one for her.
“I saw their marriage, and I was like, ‘Oh, this is what you grew up witnessing and seeing. This is all you know. You only know how to have a good, healthy relationship and how to treat your partner.’ It was such a huge moment for me,” she said.
After forging a romance in 2010, four years before they began starring together in “The Bold and Beautiful,” the former couple decided to tie the knot in 2016 in Hawaii. Three years later, they welcomed their first child, Everleigh Jolie. They then welcomed their second daughter, Gemma Wynter, in 2022, People reported.
