Beloved ‘When Calls the Heart’ Alum Preparing to Share Her Story After Nearly Fatal Fall

A former “When Calls the Heart” star continues to recover from a nearly-fatal incident that happened almost two years ago. Mamie Laverock, who played Rosaleen Sullivan, has shared numerous updates on Facebook as she rebuilds her life. In June 2024, she almost died after falling four stories off of a hospital balcony.

Recent updates from the Hallmark alum have fans stepping up and cheering her on amid some setbacks and frustrations.

Mamie Laverock Plans to Detail What Happened in Her Own Words

On a recent Facebook post, a supporter commented about the family maintaining some level of privacy regarding what happened. The family has repeatedly been criticized about how much, or how little, they have shared. In this case, the Facebook user praised the family’s approach.

They wrote, “As a society, we feel like we have a ‘right’ to give a stranger our opinion without ever even making time to walk in the stranger’s shoes. How Mamie ended up in the hospital is between you all as a family, the community holds no rights to that story.”

Laverock’s mother, Nicole Rockmann, directly replied, “She will tell it, it’s being written.”

The note about Laverock currently writing her story came on a Facebook post about the family re-opening their GoFundMe fundraiser. Rockman shared screenshots of emails they have received from critics questioning their decision to have the GoFundMe.

The notes suggested that the family was being “greedy” and “deceptive,” questioning, “why we collecting money for a vegetable.”

Rockmann explained in the caption, “As my daughter lay on life support I received post after post shaming me…I think it’s important to share this. Mamie survived and has used every charitable dollar…its been a lifeline.”

The Family of the WCTH Alum Is Preparing Litigation Over the Incident

On February 16, Laverock’s family shared a link to the GoFundMe page created after the her initial hospitalization.

An update added to the GoFundMe on February 15 provided insight into the family’s decision to reactivate the fundraiser.

“We are tired. We have given everything that we have,” wrote the fund organizers, listed as Rob and Nicole Compton, Laverock’s stepfather and mother.

The note continued, “Nicole and Rob seek help with one last battle ahead. Please help us in anyway you can in our lead up to litigation for our daughters injuries. Crowd funding will go towards preparing Mamie’s case. Everything is starting now.”

The family also explained, “We have not stopped working hard and using our incomes to support Mamie. Previous donations were lifesaving and have helped Mamie get to where she is now. This has been a massive recovery effort so far and she will include some of those recovery photos on this site. Thank you.”

Before the February 15 Facebook update, the most recent post from the family on the GoFundMe page had been from September 2025.

So far, the family’s GoFundMe has brought in over $52,000, with the goal currently set at $60,000.

  1. Reopening the Go Fund Me for litigation? This doesn’t make sense to me.
Injury cases especially ones that would bring in big awards are almost always done on a contingency fee -meaning you pay the lawyer only out of what you win when the settlement or jury award comes in.
