Influencer Ashlee Jenae, whose real name is Ashly Robinson, tragically died while on vacation in Zanzibar, Tanzania, with her fiancé Joe McCann. She was from New Jersey and was 31 at the time of her death.
Robinson was found unconscious in her villa, dying in hospital hours later, People reports. The circumstances surrounding her death are being investigated, but Robinson’s heartbroken family has reached out to the public for support, launching a GoFundMe to help with funeral arrangements and bringing her body home.

The fundraiser is titled “Support the family of Ashly Robinson,” and the family had an initial goal of $50,000, which, at the time of publication, has been surpassed. They have raised $57,099, with over 1,000 people donating.
The family also shared their story on the GoFundMe, writing, “Many of you have reached out asking how you can support our family during this unimaginable time, and we are so grateful for the love and prayers. Our beloved daughter, Ashly Robinson, traveled to Zanzibar, Africa, to celebrate her 31st birthday and got engaged during what should have been a joyful and memorable trip. Just days later, she was found unconscious in her villa at the Zuri Hotel and was rushed to a local hospital, where her death was confirmed hours later. What was meant to be a dream became our family’s worst nightmare.”
The statement continues, “As we grieve, we are also navigating an ongoing investigation and the challenges of being thousands of miles away while trying to bring Ashly home with dignity and seek answers. This fund is in response to those asking how to help and will support travel costs, arrangements, and unexpected expenses during this time. Thank you for standing with our family.” The statement is signed by Harry Robinson and Yolanda Denise Endres.
What Happened to Beloved Influencer Ashly Robinson?
Robinson celebrated her birthday on April 5. She posted a collection of gorgeous photos of herself and a video including McCann on Instagram that day. The pictures show her feeding a giraffe, with rose petals spelling out “HBD Ashlee” on the floor next to her. In the video, she kisses McCann multiple times.
The comment section of the post has been filled with condolences and support for the family. “I hope she gets JUSTICE,” a comment reads. “My heart is broken hearing what happened. I was just congratulating you a few days ago, this doesn’t feel real. May you rest in peace Ashlee. May God bring justice & peace to you and your family. Such a bright & beautiful light inside and out,” another person shared.
Robinson’s mother, Endres, revealed that she had last spoken to her daughter on April 8. Robinson had informed Endres that she and McCann had an argument and were staying in separate rooms, ABC7 reports. The family is seeking answers and has reached out to the embassy and local police. They now also have the difficult task of returning their daughter’s body home to the United States.
“She was loved. She was not just going to be discarded and forgotten about,” Endres said.
