Fate of ‘Jennifer Hudson Show’ Revealed Amid Talk Show Shakeup

“The Jennifer Hudson Show” is officially returning for a fifth season, Warner Bros. announced on Thursday, February 19.

The news comes as two competing talk shows, “The Kelly Clarkson Show” and “Sherri,” were recently confirmed to be ending after their current seasons.

‘Jennifer Hudson Show’ Renewed

The network announced the news in a press release saying that “the series has cultivated strong audience engagement and momentum this season.”

“I could not be more honored to continue this journey alongside a phenomenal group of brilliant producers, dedicated crew, and collaborative partners,” the “American Idol” alum said in a statement following the announcement. “It is such a joy to connect with people in meaningful ways every day across this country and to share stories of heart and inspiration, all while bringing entertainment into people’s lives. None of this would be possible without our incredible audience. They are the heartbeat of the show, and I am so excited to take this to new heights in Season 5!”

“The Jennifer Hudson Show” has been breaking records as the No. 1 daytime talk show on TikTok and Threads, and the second-most-followed daytime talk show across social media.

“Jennifer Hudson is a powerful force on all platforms and works incredibly well with all of our stations. We are excited to have her back for year five,” Frank Cicha, Executive Vice President of Programming for Fox Television Stations, said.

Talk Show Shakeup

Earlier this month Kelly Clarkson announced that her talk show, “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” would be coming to an end following its current season.

According to “The Voice” star, the decision was “not an easy” one.

“Stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives,” Clarkson explained in her statement, which she shared via Instagram on February 2. “This isn’t goodbye. I’ll still be making music, playing shows here and there and you may catch me on The Voice from time to time… You never know where I might show up next. But for now, I want to thank y’all so much for allowing our show to be a part of your lives, and for believing in us and hanging with us for seven incredible years.”

Sherri Shepherd’s talk show will also come to an end after its fourth season, a decision that was “driven by the evolving daytime television landscape.”

“[It] does not reflect on the strength of the show, its production – which has found strong creative momentum this season – or the incredibly talented Sherri Shepherd,” Lionsgate’s Debmar-Mercury shared in a statement to People earlier this month. “We believe in this show and in Sherri and intend to explore alternatives for it on other platforms.”
