Sherri Shepherd has been a significant face of daytime television for several decades, with her most recent gig as the host of her eponymous talk show, “Sherri.” Before reports surfaced on Feb. 2 of its cancellation, Shepherd’s segment ran for 4 seasons after she took over the time slot for Wendy Williams in 2022.
While her show’s cancellation was a shock to her fans, it also came as a surprise to Shepherd, who shared an emotional Instagram message on Feb. 3 about her show officially coming to an end.
Sherri Shepherd Breaks Her Silence
“Wow! I am completely overwhelmed by the outpouring of love for me and The @sherrishowtv. You might’ve noticed that yesterday and today I was struggling because I wasn’t feeling up to speed,” she wrote. “Well it turns out I have Covid. As soon as I feel better and return to the show, I will address all of the news that has come out.”
Shepherd ended her statement by reassuring her fans that her career is not over as she navigates this transition. “Until then, I am truly grateful that SHERRI has made such an impact on you!” she said. “See ya soon❤️ #sherrishepherd #sherrishowtv #grateful #itsnotover.”
In addition to her statement, the talk show host shared several screenshots of those who have shared kind messages about the show’s abrupt departure from daytime television. Thousands more shared their thoughts in her comments, with many expressing their gratitude for Shepherd’s joyful personality and positivity throughout 4 seasons.
“Sherri, your show brought real joy and laughs into people’s homes. You did that! I know this is just a setup for something even greater. Elevation baby!” one fan commented.
“The show was incredibly funny uplifting positive authentic bridge building and needed to be on air !!!!!!” agreed another.
Many others reassured Shepherd that “better things are coming,” as they hope to see the 58-year-old back on their screens sooner than later.
Production Company’s Statement About “Sherri” Cancellation
GettyIn a statement shared with Us Weekly from Debmar-Mercury, the syndicated TV production company owned by Lionsgate that produces Shepherd’s show, it was shared that despite its cancellation, a lack of “strength” of the “Sherri” show was not the reason it will be going off air at the end of season 4.
“This decision is driven by the evolving daytime television landscape and does not reflect on the strength of the show, its production — which has found strong creative momentum this season — or the incredibly talented Sherri Shepherd,” Debmar-Mercury co-presidents Ira Bernstein and Mort Marcus said. “We believe in this show and in Sherri and intend to explore alternatives for it on other platforms.”
Before she expanded her career into a solo act, Shepherd notably co-hosted “The View.” She was a panelist between 2007 and 2014, earning a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Talk Show Host in 2009, People reports.

Well I just turned on my TV to sit down and watch Sherry Shepherd as I do everyday, to hear that she is not on… she has covid I am genuinely sorry and feel for her sickness for half the world has had covid. But to say that her show has been canceled is an outrage😱 the woman just got her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, is doing stand-up shows and traveling all over the world to make us laugh and the one funny thing that is on TV right now in the afternoon before the news is her beautiful smile 😁 her laughter her Joy and to hear that I am not going to see that depresses me, makes me angry that you could just cancel her show just like that !!!! After the renewal of the fourth season is unheard of. The one thing that brings laughter in our life you’re going to take that Joy and smile away from us. I am so disappointed. Feel better Sherry God be with you and know that your fans no matter where we are, we are here for you♥️✝️🙏🏻😍😥🐕🙋🏻🤟🏻
