Kelly Clarkson’s return to her Las Vegas residency turned into a night of joy, laughter, and love. The beloved “American Idol” alum and winner, 42, helped a couple get engaged during her first full concert since the August passing of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock.
Fans Get Engaged Mid-Show as Clarkson Cheers Them On
A heartwarming moment from her November 7 show at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace was caught on video, showing Clarkson cheering on a fan mid-proposal. “Speak louder!” she encouraged with a smile as the crowd erupted in anticipation. When the question was finally asked, Clarkson added with her trademark humor, “Say yes, b*t*h!” sending the audience into applause.
After the proposal was accepted, one of the newly engaged fans called out, “You’re invited to the wedding now!” Clarkson laughed and joined in the celebration. “Do me a favor and ignore this next song,” she joked warmly.
“Just stay in this moment, hang out there, you know what I’m saying? Maybe go to the bathroom! I don’t wanna poo on your parade.”
The Singer Also Helped a Couple Renew Their Vows
That wasn’t the only romantic moment of the night. The Grammy-winning singer also officiated a spontaneous wedding vow renewal for another couple celebrating 10 years of marriage.
“You made it a decade? F— yeah, look at that!” Clarkson said with a smile in another fan video. Though she admitted she wasn’t technically certified to officiate, she leaned into the role with humor. “If Blake Shelton can do this, any f—in’ person can do this. They’ll let anyone do it.”
While reading from the couple’s prepared vows, Clarkson made one minor adjustment. “Do you both promise to keep dancing through life together—this is amazing!—offbeat or not, for at least another 10 years?” she read, before adding with a laugh, “F— that—50, 60. Aim high.”
Clarkson Resumes Her Residency After Family Heartbreak
Clarkson’s show marked her first full performance since postponing part of her Las Vegas “Studio Sessions” residency in August. The singer delayed four concerts originally set for Aug. 8, 9, 15, and 16 shortly before Blackstock’s death.
“While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year my children’s father has been ill, and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,” she wrote on August 6. “I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows, and I so appreciate your grace, kindness, and understanding.”
Blackstock, who was married to Clarkson from 2013 to 2022 and also worked as her manager, died of skin cancer on Aug. 7. A family spokesperson told Entertainment Weekly, “Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family.”
Moving Forward With Strength & Joy

After his passing, Clarkson canceled several appearances, including a benefit concert in Texas and one episode of “The Voice,” in which Jennifer Hudson temporarily filled in as coach.
The singer later resumed her work commitments, including taping new episodes of “The Kelly Clarkson Show” and planning future performances. She had also postponed the first weekend of her Vegas residency in July due to strain on her vocal cords.
NBC“I cried,” Clarkson told fans when she finally returned to the stage in July. “I was so sick. It sucked.”
Now that her Las Vegas residency is back on track, Clarkson is choosing to channel love and joy through music. She will continue her “Studio Sessions” shows on Nov. 8, 14, and 15, before returning for another Vegas run in July and August 2026.
Her emotional comeback reminded fans that even in grief, love still takes center stage.
