“Below Deck Down Under” star Captain Jason Chambers shared what he honestly thought about not being invited to his co-star Aesha Scott‘s wedding.
Aesha Shares & Defends Her ‘Below Deck’ Guest List
Aesha explained her nuptial decisions on the September 29 episode of “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.”
“Will you be inviting a lot of people from the ‘Below Deck’ universe to the wedding?” asked host Andy.
“Yes, well,” began Aesha. “So, I’ve got Hannah and her husband are coming, Anastasia and her husband, Sandy and Leah, and Nathan and Gayle. And a lot of people on the backend.”
She told Andy that her former boss wasn’t invited to her and fiancé Scott Dobson’s upcoming wedding because “we can only bring 130 people. It’s been tough.”
“Well, we can’t bring everyone we know,” Aesha concluded. “And Sandy’s been in my life for a lot longer. So, Sandy trumped.”
“The majority of the comments, just for the record, are people saying ‘it’s because they’ve hooked up,’ and then she’s running away. And that is absolutely not the case,” Aesha stated in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
“You know, everyone’s speculating, and they’re like, ‘it’s just so weird because they had such a good relationship.’ But I’m like, ‘yeah, but I’ve had a really good relationship with almost everyone that I’ve worked with, it doesn’t mean I can fit every person in [on the wedding guest list],'” Aesha said.
She concluded, “and Jason’s great. You know, we get on really well, and we were close for a time when we worked on the show together. But he’s not someone that’s in, like, my inner circle.”
Captain Jason’s Gracious Answer
When “Watch What Happens Live” host Andy asked Captain Jason about the wedding, he said that he wasn’t on the guest list, but the “Below Deck Mediterranean” chief stew, who worked under Captain Jason for Seasons 1 and 2 of “BDDU,” invited Captain Sandy Yawn.
“We work with a lot of people, I’ve been doing it for three decades, and we’re very close, and we had what, two seasons together? And they were great seasons,” Captain Jason said. “But that doesn’t mean we’re wedding-invite level. We don’t hang out after the show, but we actually respect each other.”
Captain Jason knew from experience that couples can’t always accommodate everyone they know on their wedding day. “I was married before. I couldn’t fit people on,” he said.
Captain Jason & Aesha’s Friendship
Captain Jason has posted about his and Aesha’s friendship in the past.
“Inside the captains cabin, rare footage. Not much goes on in here just Aesha hiding and probably coming up with some plan to dress me up to throw me out of my comfort zone,” he wrote in the caption of a video posted to Instagram back in August 2023.
