It’s been a little over a month since Robert Irwin was crowned “Dancing with the Stars” Season 34 champion, and he has not stopped to rest. The wildlife conservationist is currently in South Africa and, as he embraces 2026 and all it has in store for him, he is also trying out a new look.
Robert Irwin Shows Off His New Look
Irwin posted a short video clip on Instagram on January 3, showing himself removing his stubble and leaving only his mustache. In the clip, he informs fans that he has had “a week off filming” and is about to go back, and that he decided to use the opportunity to shave. He shaves off his stubble but leaves his mustache for “a little prank on the crew.” He then puts on a pair of aviator sunglasses and compares himself to a character from the film “Top Gun.”
In the caption, Irwin shared his thoughts, writing, “New year. New look.” And fans have flooded the comment section with their thoughts. “Robert, you are the epitome of cool!” a comment reads. “It’s giving Ron Burgundy,” another person wrote.
Other reactions include, “You’ll be the next top gun crew!,” “The full beard looked great!!,” and “I love that you’re cracking yourself up in these videos.” Even the official “Top Gun” movie account reacted, writing, “Lookin good there.”
However, it was the reaction from Irwin’s mother, Terri Irwin, that really got fans’ attention. “Potential Ned Flanders vibes,” she wrote, referring to the “The Simpsons” character.
Robert Irwin Embraces the New Year
On January 1, 2026, Irwin celebrated the new year with a reel on Instagram showcasing highlights from 2025. The images and short clips include his time on “Dancing with the Stars” with professional dance partner Witney Carson, as well as his wildlife conservation work. In the caption, he wrote, “Best year of my life. Thank you.”
Fans applauded Irwin with reactions, including one from his sister, Bindi Irwin. “What. A. Year. Love you so much!” she wrote.
Carson also reacted, writing, “Epic.”
