Disney movies are beloved for their magic, humor, and timeless storytelling. However, watching them as adults, some lines, even though they are delivered innocently, take on an unintentionally inappropriate or hilariously awkward tone. While these moments didn’t break the family-friendly charm, they definitely make us laugh now. Here are some of those unintentionally inappropriate lines from Disney movies that still crack us up.
1. “There are no bears in San Francisco.” – ‘Inside Out’ (2015)
Riley is having an emotional breakdown on “Inside Out.” She is afraid of a bear outside her bedroom window, but Disgust states, “There are no bears in San Francisco.” Anger chimes in, “I saw a really hairy guy, he looked like a bear.”
Innocent to kids, but a clear reference to the LGBTQ+ community, especially in the San Francisco area. Too funny for adults watching.
2. “Foot size doesn’t matter.” – ‘Frozen’ (2013)
It was an awkward moment between Anna and Kristoff on “Frozen,” but he was quizzing her about the things she knew about Prince Hans. One of those questions happens to be, “Foot size?”
Anne replies, “Foot size doesn’t matter.” It’s meant to be reassuring, but it lands in a very different tone for adult viewers.
3. Buzz Lightyear’s accidental excited moment – ‘Toy Story 2’ (1999)
Talk about timing, right? Buzz Lightyear was having a reaction to seeing Jesse, which can seem like nothing to the kids watching “Toy Story 2.”
However, he proudly demonstrates his “laser.” No doubt about it, that was added for the adult viewers.
4. “I’m not bad. I’m just drawn that way.” – ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’ (1988)
This line from Jessica Rabbit is meant to sound seductive, like her. However, in context, it’s very tongue-in-cheek.
Children may not be able to register the double meaning, but adults immediately catch the risqué humor hidden in the animation.
5. “I prefer you in leather, anyway.” – ‘Frozen II’ (2019)
Anna and Kristoff are back, but this time from “Frozen 2.” Who knew they had such dirty minds?
Anna is commenting on how Kristoff and the boys got all dressed up for her. Kristoff said she gets it for one hour, but then Anna drops this line out of nowhere. Parents everywhere were like, “WHAT?!?!”
6. “I’m not touching you, you’re touching me!” – ‘Lilo & Stitch’ (2002)
It sounds like an innocent little scuffle between Lilo and Stitch. Teasing each other, which gets Lilo extra worked up. However, the delivery can take on a double meaning when viewed through an adult lens. This is the kind of line kids laugh at for the chaos, while adults might snicker at the unintended implications.
