After over two years of dating, Italian rockstar Damiano David got down on one knee and proposed to Dove Cameron. The former Disney star went on to confirm the happy news on Instagram on January 3, 2026, and she’s now dishing all the details.
During an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on January 26, 2026, the actress and singer showed off her new bling and gave a glimpse into the couple’s big moment.
According to her, David had been candid about his plans to propose leading up to it, even giving her updates on the ring design and when it was ready. With that in mind, Cameron tried her hardest to be prepared, like always having her nails done and wearing white as much as possible. But David still managed to surprise her.

Despite all of Cameron’s careful planning, the “Beggin’” singer caught her off-guard by proposing on a day she was frantically packing for a trip. “I’m in a big T-shirt, no makeup, hair still kind of wet from the shower, and I’m running around like a creature in our house,” she remembered. That’s when they exchanged eye contact, and she knew what was happening.
Cameron then quickly escaped to the bathroom and gave herself some time to think. “I forgot how to function for a moment,” she joked. With no time to change or do her nails, she soon came out, only to find David ready to pop the question.
“I know that some girls want rose petals,” he told her. “I know that you were maybe expecting something big, but our life is so big, and it’s full of so many public highs that there’s no romance in that for us anymore.”
Instead of some public, over-the-top proposal, David specifically chose to propose in their own home, casually and privately. “I wanted to do this here in our home because I want dishes, I want laundry, I want making food together,” he continued. “I want you in your big t-shirt, and this is the life that I choose, and I hope you choose the same. Will you marry me?”
