Cynthia Erivo Boldly Steps Out in a Barely-There Top: PHOTOS

Cynthia Erivo is undoubtedly famous for her role as Elphaba in “Wicked.” Beyond that, she’s been making her mark on the fashion world by stepping out in bold and eye-catching outfits. That’s what she did yet again while appearing on the red carpet — or yellow brick road — for “Wicked: For Good” at SUHAI Music Hall in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on November 4.

The star showed up to the event in a gray ensemble that was made up of a shirt and a skirt. While that sounds simple enough, Cynthia’s outfit was far from straightforward. Indeed, the star “bared her midriff in a gravity-defying custom Jean Paul Gaultier crop top,” according to Page Six.

Indeed, while the top boasted a high neck, the rest of the piece was made up of two lengths of fabric that stretched down to cover her chest. Granted, it wasn’t long enough to cover her incredibly fit abs and many tattoos.

She also wore a black belt with a large buckle in front, as well as sizable bracelets and rings, plenty of earrings and a nose ring. That’s not to mention her signature bald head and super-lengthy nails. She finished off the look with high platform heels.

She even took a moment to pose with co-star and People’s “Sexiest Man Alive” Jonathan Bailey.

Cynthia’s Style Is ‘Expressing Parts’ of Herself

When it comes to style, Cynthia knows what she likes.

“This is what I want to look like,” she told Harper’s Bazaar in October. “I love a heel, I love a nail, I love a jaw, I love a bald head, I love a good outfit. It is legitimately a way of just expressing parts of myself.”

Beyond that, Cynthia talked about the self-acceptance she’s inspired thanks to her bold style choices.

“If it’s the only thing I put into this world, that everyone’s individual beauty is worth seeing and experiencing, and you don’t have to change it for anyone else other than yourself, then I’m happy,” she said.

She added, “If you want to change and you want to get a new nose, you want to get new lips, fine. If that’s good for you, then that’s good for you — as long as it’s for you.”

Cynthia Opened Up About Elphaba’s Self-Acceptance Journey

Cynthia may know what she likes, but her onscreen character, Elphaba, is on her own journey of self-acceptance.

“The first Elphaba, she says, taught her about being okay with the person you are and the body you live in,” Harper’s Bazaar explained. “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but the most important beholder is yourself.”

“The second Elphaba is more steadfast in her fury, understanding what she deserves,” they also explained. “By the second film, Elphaba has gained hold of the full expression of her rage.”

As for Cynthia, she noted, “What I love is having had the chance to play her when she has to figure out what she is and play her again when she knows.”
