England welcomed the cast of “The Dog Stars” on Thursday as Ridley Scott’s latest film held its world premiere at Odeon Luxe Leicester Square in London.
Jacob Elordi, Margaret Qualley, Josh Brolin and more stepped onto the red carpet Aug. 20 to celebrate the post-apocalyptic sci-fi film ahead of its theatrical release Aug. 28. The premiere also brought an unexpected four-legged celebrity to the carpet: Rak Jasper, the canine co-star who appears alongside Elordi in the film.
GettyElordi, 29, stars as Hig, a former pilot trying to survive in a world devastated by a deadly flu pandemic. He teams up with Bangley, a former Marine played by Brolin, as the pair face the dangers of a world that has been radically transformed.
Based on Peter Heller’s 2012 novel of the same name, “The Dog Stars” follows Hig and Bangley as they navigate the aftermath of the pandemic while trying to protect what remains of their lives. Mark L. Smith wrote the screenplay, with Scott directing the adaptation.
Jacob Elordi Takes Center Stage in ‘The Dog Stars
Elordi took center stage at the London premiere alongside Qualley and Brolin, who joined him for the film’s first major red carpet event.
The cast also includes Allison Janney, Guy Pearce and Benedict Wong, adding an impressive lineup of actors to Scott’s latest project. But Elordi’s onscreen relationship with Rak Jasper gives the film another dynamic, with the dog playing the loyal companion who travels alongside Hig throughout the story.
GettyRak Jasper the breakout canine star even joined on the red carpet for a photo opportunity, giving fans a glimpse of one of the film’s most memorable stars ahead of its release.
For Elordi, the role marks another major project following his Oscar-nominated performance in “Frankenstein.” The actor has continued to expand his filmography with roles that move beyond the teen dramas like “Euphoria” that first made him a household name.
Margaret Qualley Makes a Statement in Chanel
While The Dog Stars brought plenty of Hollywood star power to London, Qualley made headlines of her own with a particularly unconventional fashion choice.
The 31-year-old actress attended the premiere in Chanel shoes that appeared to have no soles. The striking footwear featured a block heel and two ankle straps, creating the illusion that Qualley had stepped onto the carpet without traditional shoes.
The soleless shoes first debuted April 28 as part of Matthieu Blazy’s Chanel Cruise collection.
GettyThe look felt right at home on the actress, who has maintained a longtime relationship with Chanel. Qualley has served as an ambassador for the French luxury house and previously walked in Chanel’s fashion shows in 2021 and 2024.
Her distinctive footwear added another fashion moment to an already star-studded premiere, while Elordi kept the focus on his new leading role and his unexpected red carpet partner.
Now, “The Dog Stars” heads from London to theaters and IMAX on Aug. 28, giving audiences their first chance to see Scott’s take on Heller’s acclaimed post-apocalyptic story.
