Beloved Family Ranch of ‘The Pioneer Woman’ Star Damaged in Storm: ‘A Place of Precious Memories’

The Drummond family is mourning storm damage to their beloved Oklahoma ranch. In a new video on the family’s YouTube channel, “Drummond Ranch“, they revealed that a recent storm struck the Pawhuska homestead, leaving behind heartbreaking loss.

One of the hardest-hit areas was a grove of trees tied to special family memories. “It is kind of sad to lose some of these trees and branches in here because my mom always loved this spot,” said family patriarch Ladd Drummond. “This is where we grew up.”

Remembering Nan Drummond

Nan Drummond, Ladd’s mother, died in 2018. Known for her love of the ranch, Nan cherished the trees that surrounded the family home. “She always loved it because of the trees; we had quite a few trees in the yard,” Ladd explained.

“We’re probably going to have to start planting some more trees, because we’ve been losing a few, and sometimes on the prairie, it’s hard to keep trees.”

Ree Drummond, the Food Network star of “The Pioneer Woman,” also wrote about Nan’s devotion to the homestead. “She loved the ranch, and she loved the creek behind the cemetery. Her oldest son was buried there, so it was always a special place for her,” Ree shared in a heartfelt blog post.

A Family Legacy of Love & Loss

When Nan passed away, Ree posted a moving tribute on Instagram. “Nan. My mother-in-law, my husband’s mom, my children’s grandmother, and my friend. We lost her last night, and I’m not sure any of us know quite what we’re going to do without her. She was magnificent.”

Nan’s mother, Edna Mae, passed away just months later, following her daughter’s battle with cancer. Ree honored her in a Facebook post, writing, “Nan needed her mom when she started to get really sick, and Edna Mae was there for her.”

The family later said goodbye to Chuck Drummond, Nan’s husband and the family patriarch, who died in November 2022. Known lovingly as Paw-Paw, he was laid to rest alongside his wife and son, Todd, in the family cemetery on the ranch.

The Drummond Family Continues to Share Their Story

Even in the face of loss, the Drummond family continues to open their lives to fans. New episodes of The Drummond Ranch can be streamed on YouTube, while Ree’s beloved Food Network show The Pioneer Woman remains a staple for viewers.

Through storms and seasons of grief, the family carries on its traditions: planting new trees, cherishing memories, and honoring the loved ones who made the ranch the heart of their story.
