It has been an emotional two weeks for “Nashville” star Connie Britton. The actress, who is best known for roles in the likes of “Spin City,” “The West Wing,” and “24,” has now spoken out to pay tribute to Dolly Parton.
Parton died on Tuesday August 25 at the age of 80. The news broke just nine days after Hayden Panettiere passed away at the age of 36 earlier this month.
This follows her earlier tribute to her former co-star Panettiere, who she remembered in a touching post last week. In her new social media message, Britton fondly recalled meeting Parton and the impact she has had on her. She also linked the deaths of Parton and Panettiere, writing that “the blonds are really taking heaven by storm this week 💔.”
Connie Britton Imagines What Dolly Parton Would Tell Her
Parton was a notable influence on “Nashville,” and Britton eventually landed the chance to meet her idol. She portrayed established country superstar Rayna Jaymes in the show, opposite Panettiere’s newcomer Juliette Barnes. They appeared together for five seasons, with Britton having a guest role during the sixth and final season.
In her Instagram post, Britton included several images, one of herself with the singer and another of the actress posing alongside a photograph of Parton. She wrote an emotional message, explaining how she imagined what the musician would be saying to her.
“I keep having these conversations with Dolly in my head today, like I did back in those Nashville days at the Ryman until I actually finally got to meet her in 2022,” wrote Britton. “So today I’ve been telling her what an inspiration and godsend she has been to me and to so many.”
She added, “And she says, ‘You know honey, God is in you. Know and love every part of yourself. Let it shine as only you can. Use everything you’ve been given, all that you’ve come from. And use it generously, for joy and honesty and fun and service.’ At least, yeah…that’s what she’s saying to me. Thank you Dolly.”
Connie Britton Was Heartbroken by Hayden Panettiere’s Death
Britton’s latest tribute comes just a few days after she mourned the loss of her friend and co-star Panettiere. She had originally posted a number of photographs of the younger actress, including on the set of the show.
“This was Hayden. Bursting with brilliance, shining so bright,” she wrote alongside the images. Britton admitted she had “no words for this sad song,” adding simply, “Just heartbreak. I love you girl. Sleep easy now.”
Some of Panettiere’s other “Nashville” colleagues have also paid tribute to her. Chris Carmack and wife Erin Slaver shared a moving acoustic performance online, alongside a message about the young actress.
