Fans who want to revisit some of Hayden Panettiere’s work following her recent tragic death only have a short time to watch one of her most popular performances before it leaves Netflix.
The actress appears in two successful series that are currently on the streaming service in the form of “Heroes” and “Nashville.” However, it is the latter that is more time-sensitive for viewers, with the musical drama television show set to leave the streamer next month. The renewed attention surrounding Panettiere’s most famous performances follows the actress’ death at just 36.
All six seasons of the series are due to depart Netflix on September 14 when the licensing deal for the content expires, meaning that fans who want to watch Panettiere star as Juliette Barnes only have a few weeks left to do so. Fortunately, though, fans who don’t finish their binge in time will still have another streaming option available.
‘Nashville’ Is Leaving Netflix on September 15
“Nashville” originally premiered on ABC in 2012 and starred Panettiere alongside Connie Britton. The two played rival country musicians who are forced to compete for attention and audiences. Panettiere’s character Barnes is an ambitious newcomer who threatens the popularity of established singer Rayna Jaymes, played by Britton.
The show was ultimately canceled by ABC after four seasons, but was subsequently revived by CMT. The new network produced a further two seasons of the series, bringing it to an end in 2018 after 124 episodes.
The series was viewed positively by critics and has a dedicated fan following, with many praising Panettiere’s performances. “Nashville” has been on Netflix for almost 12 months, with the streamer licensing the show under a one-year agreement that is set to expire in September. All six seasons are also available to watch via Pluto TV.
However, a source told The Sun that Netflix is also exploring options to extend the licensing agreement following a surge in interest following Panettiere’s death this week.
Hayden Panettiere’s ‘Heroes’ Recently Returned to Netflix
Fans have considerably more time to revisit Panettiere’s other defining television role. The actress portrayed Claire Bennet, a high-school cheerleader who can spontaneously regenerate to heal wounds almost instantly in “Heroes.”
All four seasons of “Heroes” returned to Netflix in the U.S. on July 1. This marked a return to the streaming service after a 10 year absence, with the series failing to find a consistent home in the intervening years.
A groundbreaking show, “Heroes” proved immensely popular when it first aired. Acclaim and viewership fell over the following years with the release of the second, third, and fourth seasons.
Panettiere played cheerleader Claire Bennet, who discovers she possesses extraordinary regenerative abilities, alongside the likes of Milo Ventimiglia, Masi Oka, Adrian Pasdar, Ali Larter, and Greg Grunberg.
Bennet became central to the show’s mythology and is the subject of the famous first-season phrase, “Save the cheerleader, save the world.”
