If you were to ask Nikki DeLoach what one of her most significant pop culture influences is, you may be surprised to discover that it’s “Sex & the City.” The Hallmark star has admitted to being a massive fan of the groundbreaking female-led series. She can also dissect the plots and characters for hours.
‘Are you a Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda, or Samantha?’ Many fans of the show have no problem answering that question. For Nikki, the answer isn’t so straightforward, even though her friends think it’s obvious.
ParamountNikki DeLoach Relates to All Four Friends in ‘Sex & the City’
“First and foremost, I have been told I’m a Carrie,” Nikki said on the “Made Possible By Pop Culture” podcast. She went on to describe how “A Grand Ole Opry Christmas” was a reunion of sorts.
“All three of us worked together on the first movie that my writing partner and I wrote for Hallmark. We fully developed [and] wrote,” she explained, referring to 2021’s “Taking the Reins.” “I had been producing for them, but this was the first one that we did together. The three of us were together in that movie — Clare [Niederpruem] directed, Eliza [Hayes Maher] played my sister.”
“So, we were reunited on ‘A Grand Ole Opry,'” she continued. “And my birthday happened on the ‘Grand Ole Opry,’ and they gave me my own Nikki necklace. Like Carrie has her Carrie necklace. And Clare was like, ‘I just feel like, gosh, you give me such Sarah Jessica Parker vibes, especially from ‘Sex in the City.’ Carrie vibes.”
However, the “Home Turf” star admitted that she sees herself in all the characters.
“I think the magic and the brilliance of the show is, you can relate to all four of them in terms of their perspectives on any given subject,” she said.
Team Big or Team Aiden? Nikki DeLoach Weighs in on the Ultimate SATC Debate
She isn’t willing to commit to being one of the four SATC women, but when it came to another topic, Nikki had some pretty strong opinions.
“One of the things that I think they executed so beautifully on this show is the Mr. Big/Aiden [triangle],” she said. The “True Justice” star described the coupling of Carrie and Mr. Big as “fireworks.”
“Aiden comes in the picture and you think, ‘There’s not going to be anybody that they could possibly bring in that you’re gonna root for outside of Mr. Big,” she continued. “And then Aiden walks in. And the way that this character was created, and the way that he brought it to life, you could actually see the two of them being together.”
Does that mean she’s on Team Aiden?
“As much as Nikki — me Nikki — probably would have picked Aiden, I think for Carrie, it had to be Big,” she conceded.

Nikki!!! I have watched Sex in the City a million times….never saw it when it was originally on but I’ve seen all the re-runs, over and over…..watched the original movie a dozen times as well.
