Professional dancers Shirley and Mark Ballas are two of the most legendary performers in the industry. But at the end of the day, they’re family. Amid the spectacular performances and insightful critiques, the pair frequently interrupts one another and gets on each other’s nerves on “The Next Pro.”
Truly, there’s nothing but love between the Ballases. In a new interview, the pair give insight into their personal relationship and reveal some truths about one another.
Shirley & Mark Ballas Dish on Each Other’s Habits
Professional dancers Shirley and Mark Ballas recently appeared on “Good Morning America.” Of course, the hosts wanted to know what exactly it was like to work alongside a close relative. Naturally, they decided to play a little game with the duo.
“Mark and Shirley Ballas play a game of ‘who’s most likely to’ about working together at the judges’ table on ‘Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro,'” “Good Morning America” captioned a new Instagram post, featuring the iconic mother-son duo.
When the host asks which of the pair is more dramatic, Mark and Shirley Ballas immediately point fingers at each other.
“It depends on the context,” Mark quips.
When asked which of the two takes longer to get ready, both admit Mark does.
“She’s so fast,” the 40-year-old says of his mother.
“I’m never late. Never,” Shirley insists.
The pair couldn’t quite agree on who is the most stubborn. Shirley insisted Mark is, but he once again admitted it depends on the context. They agreed that Shirley sends the longer text messages of the two and that she would also win a dance-off between them.
Fans Find the Duo’s Bickering Entertaining
While Mark and Shirley Ballas love each other dearly, they’ve butted heads quite often on “The Next Pro.”
“Take it from @robertirwinphotography: working with your family can get intense, #DWTSNextPro” the official “Dancing With the Stars” Instagram account captioned a new reel.
“I can’t help but notice that tensions are high between our dancers, but there’s also a little bit of tension between Mark and Shirley,” Robert Irwin begins in the clip as he doubles over in laughter. The video cuts to scenes from “The Next Pro” where the mother-son duo argue behind the judges’ table.
“Hey, I work with my family every day, and you agree on most things, but every now and then, there’s a little disagreement and when it comes to dance, it’s subjective,” Robert adds. “So naturally, there’s gonna be some differing viewpoints. Not gonna lie though, it’s very entertaining.”
“Robert spitting facts #tension 🤭” Shirley replied in the comments.
“This is what happens when you have a mother and son duo judging! 💛😅” a fan added.
“Dancing With the Stars: The Next Pro” returns for a brand-new episode at 8 p.m. this Monday on ABC. This week, the top five are mentored by the reigning champion, Witney Carson, who shows them the importance of teaching an inexperienced dancer.
