Lara Spencer Shows Support for Her Beloved ‘Good Morning America’ Costar After Emergency Heart Surgery

Former HGTV star Lara Spencer and her “Good Morning America” co-star Sam Champion have a close friendship, and she has previously posted about their bond, including thanking Champion for the support she received from him and her other colleagues after the death of her beloved mother, Carolyn von Seelen, on February 13.

Spencer and Champion’s closeness was on display again on Tuesday, March 24. This time, Spencer took to Instagram to send Champion some love after he underwent emergency heart surgery. 


Lara Spencer Shows Sam Champion Some Love 

Champion shared his health journey with fans on Instagram on March 22. He posted a video of himself wearing a hospital gown at Mount Sinai Fuster Heart Hospital in New York City. In the caption, he informed fans about what was going on with his health. “Many of you know I had a nuclear stress test last Thursday. And we found some things that needed to be taken care of so today,” he wrote. “I went in to the cardiac catheterization laboratory….. and we took care of it. Thanks to these procedures. I am well and expected to make a full recovery.”

The post was flooded with supportive messages.

Two days later, Spencer created her own supportive post, expressing her excitement about Champion’s return to work and sharing how much she loves him. She posted a photo on Instagram of them posing for photos in an inflatable car. In the caption, she wrote, “He’s back tomorrow!!!!! Love you so much Sam. Thrilled you are back and better than ever.” 

Fans flooded the comment section with messages of support. “Dynamic duo,” a comment reads. “I adore your friendship,” another person shared. Other reactions include, “Love you both,” “They are beautiful together,” and “Nice to see you back at GMA today, Sam & you are looking good.” 


Sam Champion Shares Positive Health Update 

On Wednesday, March 25, Champion returned to work, giving fans an update on his health in a video he shared on Instagram. “I’m doing fine, feeling fine,” he says into the camera. He then spoke about how he had had a restless night. “I woke up a lot last night,” he admitted. “Probably just nervous about the regular schedule and getting back to it today. But everything is really good … and I feel good.” 

Fans were thrilled to see him return to work and to hear that he is doing well, and the comments were filled with loving, supportive messages.
