In between months of chemotherapy infusions and her upcoming bilateral mastectomy surgery, longtime Hallmark star Yan-Kay Crystal Lowe is back on set, cherishing the chance to do what she loves.
On February 10, 2026, the “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” star and busy director, who first revealed her stage three breast cancer diagnosis in October, joyfully updated fans in a video from her trailer and wrote in her caption, “I’m still here!! Still trucking! Excited to be doing what I love. Getting ready for surgery is a mind trip. So many ups and downs. Feb 19th is coming soon 🙈”
Yan-Kay Crystal Lowe Says Filming Has Provided a ‘Desperately Needed’ Distraction
Wearing a white winter hat to cover her head, still mostly bald from chemo, Lowe recorded a selfie video from her trailer, smiling as she told fans, “I am getting ready to do some fun work that I can’t talk about!”
She then gave some words of encouragement to anyone else facing a cancer diagnosis by sharing, “I just wanted to tell you that if you are starting this journey, I am still functioning and getting to do a lot of great things, thank the Lord, because I desperately needed this as a distraction from everything going on in the world and the fact that I have cancer still.”
Lowe, who completed her chemo infusions in January, previously shared that she’ll undergo a double mastectomy on February 19 to remove the tumor and all surrounding tissue in her right breast. Her left breast will also be removed to decrease the chance of recurrence and to help her eventual reconstruction with implants look symmetrical.
“February 19 is coming up so soon,” she said in her latest video, adding, “I’m not gonna lie, I am, like, so sad to lose my boobs and also so happy to get rid of this cancer and actually get a pathology report so I actually know what’s going on.”
After a mastectomy, pathologists closely examine the tumor and tissue to determine if all of the cancer was removed with “clear margins,” according to the Mayo Clinic. It can take up to a week for results and for next steps to be determined, but Lowe has already said her team anticipates her needing radiation post-surgery.
Yan-Kay Crystal Lowe Received Support From Stars & Fans
Lowe acknowledged in her latest video that she’s feeling “so many mixed emotions right now,” and she received a flood of support from fans and friends.
“When Calls The Heart” star Andrea Brooks commented on her post, “So brave of you to share this journey! You’ve got this. 💪”
Hallmark’s Fiona Gubelmann chimed in, “L❤️VE you” and Tamera Mowry-Housley told Lowe, “We love you.”
“General Hospital” star Finola Hughes sympathized, “I understand your mixed emotions. ❤️🙏”
Among the many fans who left comments, one wrote, “So proud of you in your fight against cancer and that you’re doing great work. So strong ❤️”
Yan-Kay Crystal Lowe Has Several Projects in the Works Before Surgery
HallmarkAlthough Lowe couldn’t share what she’s working on, it’s possible she’s in Vancouver to help with the next “Hannah Swensen Mysteries” movie. Peter Benson is named as the director for the next film in the franchise, “Kitchen Expert,” filming throughout February, per industry trades.
However, when Lowe was first diagnosed, she revealed in an essay written for People that “Hannah Swensen” star Alison Sweeney and her production partner, Craig Baumgarten, “shifted schedules so I may be able to direct the next one when my treatment is complete.”
Lowe also shared in January that she filmed a role in the upcoming feature film “All For Love,” which is now listed on IMDb as “All For Christmas,” starring Jesse Kove and Whitney Leavitt. Incredibly, Lowe filmed with the cast in December, in between chemo treatments.
