The family of longtime HGTV star Drew Scott has received an outpouring of love after the sudden passing of his mother-in-law, which he revealed in a social media post late on February 5, 2026. The “Property Brothers” star shared multiple photos of his wife Linda Phan’s mother, Habu, and wrote an emotional tribute to her.
“My heart is broken,” Scott began his heartfelt post. “We have lost one of the most beautiful, kind and selfless people this planet has ever seen. Linda’s mom is truly one of a kind and was taken from us far too soon.”
Drew Scott Said His Mother-in-Law Brought ‘So Much Light to Our Lives’
In his tribute to Phan’s mom, Drew wrote, “”Thank you Habu for bringing so much light to our lives. Your laugh was infectious and I will always remember our late nights playing your favorite game 四色牌遊戲.”
Drew knew his mother-in-law for over 15 years, having met Phan in 2010 in their native Toronto, per People. Now based in Los Angeles, the couple married in 2018 and share two kids — son Parker, who will turn four in May, and daughter Piper, who will turn two in May.
“I feel helpless in trying to comfort Linda and her family,” Drew continued, “but know memories of all the beautiful times with Habu will live on with us forever.”
Drew then directly wrote to his beloved mother-in-law, “You were always there for us and all 10 grandkids. The hardest thing for me is to know we won’t have you here to see Parker and Piper grow into strong and compassionate adults like you. I love you. I miss you❤️”
Fans & Famous Friends Send Their Condolences to Drew Scott’s Family
At the time of publication, Phan had not made any public statements about her mom’s passing, but fans and famous friends flooded Drew’s post with condolences for both of them.
Drew’s brother Jonathan, the other half of the Property Brothers, wrote, “💔 what a loving soul through and through. May we always remember and feel the love she shared.”
Jasmine Roth of HGTV’s “Help! I Wrecked My House” commented, “So sorry to hear this. Sending love to your family. ❤️❤️❤️”
Fellow Canadian native Michael Bublé, who’s been friends with Drew for years, wrote, “So sorry guys. God bless you all. Buble’s send so much love.”
“Trading Spaces” alum Vern Yip commented, “Heartfelt condolences for this devastating loss for your entire family. May the warm and lasting memories of her help comfort all of you.”
