The 61-year-old is all about comfort in design, which he fully put into practice while renovating his property in Savannah. In a new social media video, Pennington takes fans around the carriage house, showing off his unique design choices.
While many fans said they would love to be the Pennington family’s guest, plenty of HGTV stars echoed similar sentiments.
Ty Pennington Gives Fans a Glimpse Inside His Charming Carriage House
Ty Pennington is fully leaning into Southern hospitality in his new social media post.
“POV: You stay in our carriage house,” he wrote over the video, revealing the stunning property.
“Come on over 🙋🏻♂️ Love sharing our little slice of paradise in the south ✨🌿🌳” Pennington captioned his Instagram post, tagging Savannah, Georgia as the location.
The video reveals a spiral staircase, a cozy bedroom, a bathroom, and plenty of living space, all decorated with the perfect Southern vibe. Naturally, Ty Pennington’s fans would love to take him up on the offer. Plenty of viewers expressed adoration over the carriage house, including other HGTV stars.
“This place is pure gold!! So your vibe too!” fellow HGTV personality Taniya Nayak excitedly replied in the comments.
“This is just so incredibly darling! And a pool?! 😍😍😍” designer Carissa Elizabeth added.
“😍😍 I’m on my way!” Jasmine Roth quipped.
The ‘Rock the Block’ Host Dishes on His Own Unique Style
While fans know Ty Pennington can make clients’ design dreams come true, he actually has a unique style of his own.
“You know, it’s funny,” Pennington told Better Homes & Gardens in 2025, noting that he coined his own phrase for it. “I would call it ‘modern primitive,’ which is sort of an oxymoron. I like modern clean lines, but I also like things that look very primitive and look like they’ve got history and tell a story. It’s very form equals function. You don’t need too much extra fluff.”
While the 61-year-old prefers a more basic look, he admits that he wants charm and “soul” in his living space too.
“I like anything that has a bit of a soul to it, and I think that’s also why I love design,” the HGTV star added. “These days, a lot of the time you’re dealing with a brand new drywall, white box, and how do you make something so new feel like it’s had some wear and tear on it? Let’s face it—we love blue jeans because they have rips, and they’re worn, and they’re faded. Things like that that we bring into our home are what make it feel warm and fuzzy and like us.”
And of course, scent makes a world of difference. Ty Pennington added that he’s a big fan of certain candles, specifically sandalwood and jasmine. But at the end of the day, it’s all about making the space comfortable.
“It’s also laughter, and when you’re comfortable, you laugh more,” he added.
